S&W 19-3. Small enough to carry, powerful enough for just about everything and I know it will work.

another vote for the 870 in 12 bore...have owned the same one for 46 years and it hasn't failed me yet( also have two new newer ones) and the memsaheb has a Ithaca 37-8 shooter with a Choate pistolgrip stock and has slamfire capabilities that is vicious......

I would carry a S&W 629 in 44 mag. Easy to carry and I can use it to put food on the table.

I agree it would be hard to decide. But it would probably come down to two guns, I just have to figure out which one.
A 617 no dash 4 inch or my 18 I've had for 30+ years.
Decisions, decisions........

I'd use some type of flintlock rifle. I could make my own powder and bullets, wouldn't need cases or primers and I could always shoot someone else to get their modern guns and make my own parts if my rifle broke.

MaximumLawman: I admire your self sufficiency, but in the scenario presented there is no end of civilization or shortage of ammo. Personally, I couldn't find a piece of flint if my life DID depend on it!
