I used to wonder "What's the big deal?"

Then I began to understand that we are not dealing with people who want anything "reasonable." We are dealing with people who want to disarm the law abiding citizens. Period.

The antis are not "stupid." And their laws are not "stupid." They are very efficiently taking little bites out of the Constitution. They know they can't do it all at once so they take little bites so as not to upset too many people at one time.

Once we outlaw "cop killer" bullets it's a small, "reasonable" step to outlaw lead bullets. For the children, of course. Who needs to outlaw guns if you can make ammo too expensive to buy?

In California we are limited to purchasing one new handgun every 30 days. Once you have a number it's much easier to decrease it. After all, if they can say "one" they can say "none."

I say resist any and all new restrictions.

My car is a tool that I put fuel in when it needs it, and if it makes a noise it doesn't normally make I report it to the mechanic. I certainly don't mean to indicate that I can't drive a patrol car effectively and responsibly even in high stress situations. I've done so many times. But I'm not a car guy, I just drive 'em.
My apologies if the post was taken as anti leo. The comment was never intended to be leo bashing as I think the moderators frown upon such things. Merely 50+ years of observation of and discussion with numerous leos about their knowledge of guns and gun laws, many of which are friends of mine and one a brother in law. I really don't mind that a leo may be ignorant of gun types, functions, ballistics, etc., as the primary issue to me is lack of knowledge of the myriad of gun laws on the books. As a basic example, try asking a few leos to explain the safe passage provision of the McClure-Volkmer act to you. It's one of the more important laws to protect gun owners and has probably been abused as much or more than most gun friendly laws, mostly from ignorance. Keep score and you'll probably be surprised how few even know it exists.
To the car comparison, I would add that although many leos may know very little about the mechanics of cars, they should know very much about vehicle laws when a large part of their job is to chase them up and down the road writing tickets. I wish all leos were gun guys to same degree as most of us gun nuts. Knowledge of the inanimate objects is desirable but should be secondary to knowledge of the laws regulating those objects.

"Cop killer bullets" are nothing more than a myth that keep being perpetuated by the leftist media and the TV-Movie industry just to stir things up.
