The threads about pocket knives got me thinking about my Utility Belt-ala Batman. I wear one in dress and casual clothing. Nothing fancy, on my left hip a MiniMag Light in a nylon holster. (I prefer leather ones, but the ones I made fron Tandy kits years ago didn't hold up, while the commercial ones are usually open top, I prefer a flap.) On my right hip, a multitool-in recent years, a Leatherman, then a folding knife, a Sears Craftsman "Buck" style. No cell phone yet-too cheap to get one. I think I use my flashlight every day, while the blades I use most often on the multitool are the can opener and the screwdriver blades. The pliers are just right for pulling a bit of a staple out of a stapler.

When working as an industrial electrician, I wore a Craftsman
tool pouch on a Berman Buckskin belt. That's been a long time back, but the belt and pouch still have all the tools right where they always were, and I can grab the one I need without having to look at the pouch.

When I was a cop in the sixties, we nabbed an old time second story burgular who hit a silent alarm while going through the roof of a down town department store. He was a profesional with a jump suit on over a $500 suit, with a new Cadilac parked on the street. He had a utilility belt that would have put Batman to shame. Portable torches, the works.

uh... I prefer braces (suspenders to you Americans!)...

I carry light, Gerber multitool, knife and cell phone. Farming and related equipment maintenance makes them very handy.

I worked in the tech industry in the mid-1990s when cell phones were just starting to become small enough for people to start thinking about wearing them, rather than carrying one - remember the brick sized cell phones? At the time, it was very common for people to carry pagers as well as a cell phone. I remember attending a very interesting meeting where the marketing and engineers were locked into a discussion about a new concept called "belt real estate". It was fascinating hearing the discussions about the average space available on an American male's belt line, and how we should design our products to make the most efficient use of the available "real estate". I remember at one point wearing 2 different cell phones and a 2-way pager all at the same time. I not only had an instant Batman utility belt look, I also had a problem keeping my pants up with all of the payload!

Hmmmmm......lets see.....starting from the buckle going towards my left side.....OC in a Don Hume holster, a full size M&P 45 in a Safariland holster, an HWC flashlight ring, a pair of Peerless 300 (no, not 800) cuffs in a Don Hume carrier, a Motorola XTS 5000 800 mhz radio in a steel carrier, an 18 inch ASP baton in a Bianchi carrier, a Surefire 6P flashlight in a Bianchi bikini carrier, a Safariland double magazine pouch with two magazines, and my key chain clip. Does that qualify as a utility belt?

Nah, I've got pockets. More secure and less of the geek look.

Try police supply stores. I know Triple K, Gould and Goodrich, and Akers all make small flashlight holders with flaps in leather. They're not made specifically for the Mini-Mag, but one for a 6P or small Stinger should be close enough fit to work. I have a Triple K one like this Triple K Leather Stinger Flashlight Case - 411 and it's a great case.

I carry everything I need in my purse. (aka Briefcase)
