Default Ten years here

Ok, Lee's new software just gives an estimate of the month we joined. I think its probably late in the month, but I'm not sure. And I lurked here for a while before joining.

Lee's same software conveniently dropped 14,400 + posts, but its OK. Some of my co-workers wondered how I could get that many posts and still work full time.. OK, maybe I wasn't working all 70 or 80 hours I was in my office. Now I'm retired and just don't care what anyone thinks I was doing.

The old days were good. We had a poster back then (and even now sometimes) name Dewey, or Dewey Dan. At the time I joined he was giving the best answers to S&W questions I'd ever heard. I lament the loss of him, he was a real asset to the board. I haven't even seen posts recently from SmithNut. I guess time moves on and so do posters.

But its been fun. I have no idea if I'll survive 10 more years.

Congrats on 10 years of forum membership, especially the first 9 when you were drawing a salary to loaf!

If you go into mini statistics in user profile, you may find your actual date of joining. Mine is April 1, 2004. I find it somewhat appropriate that I became a member on April Fool's Day.

You coming to NGD next w-end? GF and I will be there when the doors open Friday.

Dick,

We certainly are hopeful that you remain around for 10, 20 or 30 more years. You have always willingly shared information and have become a great asset to this forum. Forgot to mention - your damn good sense of humor!

Lee,

I recommend that you only charge Burg half price for the next ten years. Senior citizen's discount, you know.

Congratulations, Dick. Don't feel bad about the lost posts. Somehow the system lost my post count and lost me too. I had to enroll again in the first grade under an alias.

No doubt, some of us have been here for a long time. I also remember Dan. I think he was from the Birminghan area. Smithnut told me about this place. At the time I spent most of my time at Shooters and Smithnut was also there.

I have learned a lot from you and hope you are enjoying your retirement.

Congrats, Dick! I recall corresponding with you for advice on K-22s shortly before I joined, in April 2005. I have always appreciated your generosity in advising the less knowledgeable -- or in my case the downright ignorant!

You ever get that Havana I sent a coupla years back in commemoration of the KC RM? (That was one well travelled stogie: Cuba to Japan, smuggled back to Honolulu (or so I heard from a guy who claimed to know something about it ), and USPS from Hawaii to Kentucky...

There are certain posters on every forum that provide great information or entertainment. Those are the guys/gals that everyone pays attention to what they post.

Dick I put you up there in that category. I've always enjoyed your posts and have learned alot by paying attention to your expertise about S&W's.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Don

Dick, you could add to the list Osprey and Celticsire. I miss a lot of the oldtimers.

To quote Shultz from Hogan Heros, " I know nothing!" Last I saw of the rumored stogie, it was up in smoke.

Dick,

Here's some of the SC forum guys in early 2004.

Dewey's on the far left of the picture, I'm the guy in front with his arms crossed, and Nframe's in sunglasses to my left.

Dick, I look forward to the next 10 years. Dewey still shows up on occasion and we exchanged e-mails recently. I think I have also seen CelticSire here of late also.

Well, I've only been 'round since September 2005. Found this place while trying to figure out how to do a complete tear down on a 5906 to install a competition trigger spring. Kinda stuck around and also lost a bunch of posts with the upgrade. Thats OK though, give a false impression on the time spent here

Dick is retired and has to post on his own time now, no more wasting hours on the company computer.

cheers, rburg!

I'm hoping to garner even further updates on your various Jeep musings.

Like you, I have recently retired. Just leased my building out in fact.

I've adapted very well to "not having to go to the office"....the new question is how to adapt to "not having an office to not go to".

I'm anticipating more of your golden key strokes will continue distracting me from rushing about too much.

Red face Working up on the decade mark myself....

Maybe more if you add the time I spend in the penalty box ....

My forum "incept date" and about 8683 posts went down the drain with the new software... still, I am thankful that Lee saw fit to reach out to a number of us "Fallen Angels" and bring us back after he bought the board... I feel very grateful that he did...

I remember the forum shutdown for 9-11.

A few more of the old guys...

Remember The Reaper? and Chip King? These guys were great. I corresponded with Victor Lewis recently.... I see BruceHMX frequently. His son Ed who was born while Bruce was on the board is now nearly nine years old... N-Frame's been to my house a couple of times and DWFan is my brother... I can remember signing on at 3AM and Micheal Stern and I had the board all to ourselves....

We've had a real fine crew here...

Drew

Whatcha gonna do the next ten years? I didn't see any snowblower or bad neighbor stories this year, so I guess you must be getting along with your new neighbors. I'm not going to NGD but Jr. and some of his friends will be there Sunday morning before heading back to make it to work on time.
