1st Warning - Dec, 2009 for creative spelling.
2nd Warning - June, 2011 for creative spelling of the same word.

Adios.
Don't forget to take your toys home with you.

thus far Ive been ticketed for race and religion .... well it keeps me a little humble and I dont really get bent out of shape about it.
Kinda figured I'd get it for cop bashing since its one of those topics I fight with ... hasnt happened yet ... guess i might be changing my outlook.
I guess thats a tip of the hat to some of the LEO's here.

Leave if you want, but I always read your posts when I saw them, and think you add to this Forum. And surely it’s true Handejector will lose no sleep over it.

However…………I can be a pretty difficult person, and have been warned a couple of times myself. I enjoy this Forum. I just cleaned up my act. I actually in many ways have come to appreciate the stricter rules of this Forum. The name calling, and the angered debates that change no one’s mind surely never brought out the best of me.

Do as you will, but I enjoy being here. Besides that, aren’t we neighbors? It’s always nice to have a Forum member live near by that’s getting rained on at the same time.

Emory

Personaly I see being here as if I am a guest in someones house. I dont put my feet on the coffee table or walk around in my draws

So if the owner/mods ask me not to do something, I wont do it again. Sure I might feel slighted or its not a big deal, but its not my house or my rules, I am just a guest here.

So no need to leave, just play by the rules

Just play by the RULES. It ain't your playground. It belongs to someone else who is letting us use it. No worries! Rules are rules and this is a better place for them.

Speak you mind as you please. We all do. Chill, relax and play on! Ouit? Naaaww!

PS You can edit that second to last word in your post, and sound allot classier...

I got into trouble twice for referring to a guy who has been dead for over 100 years as a ***. I really don't think the dead guy complained.

handejector: I would hope cowboy117 gets a couple days to cool off. It ain't the end of the world if he kisses off, but I'm pretty sure he'll regret it. Stuff happens. I am pretty sure I've been a major pain to Mods. The knee jerk is to take your marbles and hit the road. This is the best sight out there in the history of the gun websights, since prodigy started them in'92.

I have left more than one forum. I never left because of any actions the moderators took to keep me on the strait and narrow.
Just man up, take your medicine, and make sure the next time you're in trouble it's for singing too loud in church.

He's not banned.
I did not ding him earlier today.
I did not ding him 18 mos ago.
He brought this into public, and that is the first I had seen of it.

I merely reminded him not to forget his toys.
When one acts like a child, there is a real good chance people will treat you like one.

I try my best to abide by the rules and I understand that that Lee calls the shots. I have never been reprimanded and will try to maintain that record.
However ( ), i feel like a lot of the fun and enthusiasm is gone from the forum, especially the Lounge. I understand the need for moderation. I'm happy with the ban on foul language, politics etc but it kinda feels like the local watering hole has been taken over by Billy Graham.
I'm not trying to get on your bad side Lee, it's just my opinion.

Well, some guys just got to do what they got to do.

Personally I think Lee, AKA Hand Ejector, is a pretty square person. I got dinged by Thiokol I believe it was and had some personal health problems and was gone for a while and got a nice note from Hand Ejector wanting to know why I was not active and asking that I come back.

To leave for "Creative Spelling" which is to lots of us a bit annoying, to say the least, is very childish....mayby like the country music song says, "If I kiss you will you go away?"

Always felt you had a somewhat limited vocabulary if it took those kinds of words to express yourself.

Then again it could be the other song that says, "I've enjoyed as much of this as I can stand."

Cre@t!ve sp&!!ing is a method used to post a word that is not allowed on this board.

We have a filter that traps some words.
Use it to your advantage, folks.

Let's say yellow was not allowed.
If you type:
"I have a yellow car"
and type 'yellow' correctly, your post will look like this:
"I have a ****** car"

That is fine- No harm, no foul, and NO DING (unless context is an obvious offense).
If you type:
"I have a y@!!ow car"
you are creatively spelling 'yellow' to circumvent the filter.
That would get a ding.

Simply type any word you want to use.
If it is allowed, you'll see the word.
If not, you'll see ******.
LEAVE it alone, or pick a better word.

Bear in mind- cute attempts to use one word of a two word phrase combined with asterisks or a partial word combined with asterisks IS creative spelling and will get a ding.

I simply will not host a board that is rude or vulgar.
I will not host a board where boorish behavior is the norm.
I will not host a board that people cannot use to teach their children about the shooting sports.

No need to remind me that worse is commonly seen on TV.
I don't set the standards for my life or this board by TV.
It almost seems that most of America does now- How's that workin' out for ya?

Last, if you get a warning or a point, get over it. Read the rules- you missed something. It's not personal.

Must reads:
Sticky: RULES - General Posting Rules
WARNINGS and Infractions

I dont normaly reply to these kind of post BUT. As a moderator on another board I have banned people for using bad words in there post. The first time they get a little note. Then thats when things get touchy and hot. I want to know if the people who use the bad words would think its ok for their children to use the same words and not get in trouble. I also work with kids and if they use these words around I get very upset with them. Now I really appreciate the almighty Handjector for letting me come here and play and learn. I would also like to thank all the moderators for keeping this board clean.

Thank You all.

I offer no opinion as to what Cowboy should do. We're all adults and can make our own decisions. I used to visit this forum much more often in the past but got tired of all the far right-wing conservative rhetoric. (Newsflash for some of you: some far left-wing liberals love guns too. I know this to be a fact because, well, I am one.)

I now note that extremist rhetoric (of any type) is no longer tolerated, nor should it be.

I appreciate the Administrator's strict policies. Keep up the good work.

If you take a minute to think about it it's pretty easy to get your point across without trying to creatively "spice" it up. I am thankful for this forum and the opportunity to be a member. Just follow the rules. Pretty simple.

Thanks Lee for making this fantastic site available. I'm sure most of us get it. For the rest, try and find this much free information and helpful generous members somewhere else. I'm sure they will change their rules for you.

The Admin has given me a couple of quiet reminders to watch my language. I took them as just that: quiet reminders, nothing to take offense at. I enjoy it here even though I have a lot of views that differ from those that prevail here. The moderation and general tone is gentlemanly, unlike a lot of places on the net.

Where else can you get good clean fun at whatever price you can afford to pay?

To plagiarize an earlier post:
I love this board because it generally is not rude or vulgar.
I love this board because boorish behavior is not generally found.
I love this board because anyone can safely be allowed to read nearly any post without finding offensive content.

I have gotten points for inadvertent rules violations. That is the result of a good clean system.

Most of the forums I have been on there were things that members could not post. Some folks think that forums are supposed to be the ultimate expression of free speech but they are not. There are limits everywhere in society including your friendly neighborhood forum. It's fairly straight forward. Live by the rules that are posted or leave.

And speaking for myself, I have been on forums that I decided I didn't like the climate and I simply left. No swan song and no pity party needed for me. And I am sure everyone figured out that I wasn't around anymore.

Just my opinion but I feel that those who say they are leaving should do so. Too often though they are talked into staying and they receive a pat on the back. Net result: childish behavior is rewarded. After a while the whole thing may repeat itself. To me, such things would be expected in Pre-School or Kindergarten but adults responsible enough to own firearms should be past such things.

I've been thumped on the head a couple of times here, but it didn't hurt long. I just try harder to obey the rules. As Lee stated earlier, "it's not personal".

I love The Lord, I love my family and I love a risque joke. Several of my threads have disappeared because of innuendo and I'm guilty of using a double entendre or two. I'm the uncle that will tell my nephew about Jesus and love stones in the same conversation. I don't cuss on this forum though and I don't hold a grudge when a post gets yanked. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff and really it's all small stuff, kinda like Anthony Weiner's pup tent. Sleep on it and come on back.

I stumbled into this forum not very long ago. For me it was liking finding a diamond in a Crackerjack box. The extent of the knowledge that the forum members provide to rookies like me is nothing short of fantastic. And one of the things that impressed me right off was the overall tenor of the posts & comments - cordial, gentlemanly & helpful. To quote the song, "I love this bar."

Default what we say

This whole "on line" thing, as I have mentioned a couple of times in other posts, is a new thing for me. I'm not much of a joiner, and I am a person who appreciates polite privacy. In the few instances that I have seen "discussions" become what I would call out of line; name calling, condecension, negative inferences, etc, it has ocurred to me that folks would not talk to each other this way if they were face to face, in "real life" if for no other reason that, indeed, "an armed society is a polite society." I greatly appreciate the general tone of this forum, and I gather from reading other's posts that it is the exception, and not the norm. This medium easily becomes an oppurtunity for those that have various "issues" to act out these things, and be "heard" in the only place they may have found to do so. Obviously, some oversight is desirable, and required, to maintain something like this. And it is certainly a demanding responsibility to be part of the group that performs this service. But, on ballance, I feel that those in charge do better, and find a more favorable reception with those that they govern, if they lead by example. I have had positions durring my life that required confrontation, and in retrospect, I often violated the very principles I was advocating or enforcing, when all I had to do was speak the truth to the offender, and let the guidelines we had all agreed on be the "tough guy." When considering this situation that is currently being discussed, and in 20-20 hind sight, I feel that Lee would have done better to just hold his peace, or make some overture to the individual that they were welcome to stay, as long as they wanted to abide by the rules we ALL had to follow. I'm sure he has re-thought the, "take your toys" comment, and that, in a large part, is how we grow. Words are like that, when they are out there, you can't take them back. Someone visiting the foum, or a newer member, or maybe someone like me, may have gotten the wrong impression of the forum and how it is overseen, when reading that exchange. As a young man, I rarely listened to the experience and suggestions of older men, and now I find myself on the other side of the same coin! But it is incumbent upon me, none the less, to offer these insights that came as a result, mostly, by making mistakes, and hopefully, learning from them so I wouldn't have to repeat them. Flapjack.

Stick around Cowboy.

Heck I've been in more trouble than you due to my own stupidity. Little mistakes but none the less, I broke the rules. And each time I took it personal and gave the mods some grief.

If they don't enforce each and every infraction, then someone will complain that they are not being fair. Selective enforcement of the rules would lead to bedlam here.

Some of my posts have been insulting, highly opininated, and down right rude. I try not to, but sometimes my anger gets the best of me. It's something I need to work on.

Even when I was a kid, I needed a boot in the butt a time or too.

have to say i agree with how handejector handled the situation. if he wants to just walk away from the issue rather than try to change and better himself then its better for the forum as a whole if he isnt here. just my 2 cents

Whew!!! I'm glad to see other folks have gotten dinged!!!

As stated by another poster, this is not our house and we are guests. That's how I see it as well. I also like Handejectors sentiment about this staying a site that people can show their kids and learn more about shooting.

There's topics I won't bring up, things I won't reply to, people I think are nut jobs, and lots of other things that are in my real life that don't belong here. As stated, this isn't our website, we're here for a visit.

Also, I'd like to thank my parents for ensuring that my education enable me to express myself without the need to swear (although I do in real life) ...

And I must add, it wasn't too classy to say 'almost, everybody' ... if a person really gives a rats hind end (see, I didn't say ***!) they don't need an 'exit thread' to bash the mods over something that I now see most of the people I read all the time here have, and that's a ding or two. I honestly feel much better seeing some long timers and quality posters have had a slap as well ... not nearly as isolating

I already forgot who started this thread ,but I hope they have a great life, and can find an outlet to creatively spell what ever the **** they want.

American society desperately needs standards like these if we ever wish to be truly "great" again.

Does this mean the board will shut down now? Can it go on?

I always wonder about the motivation of people who post the "I'm leaving and never coming back" announcements. I always suspect they come back and read the thread to see if anyone is going to beg them to stay. Maybe not.

Anyway. See you around.

I come from a part of the country where cussin was an art form and not slander.
I can appreciate rules---truely, I can.
Sometimes I see the common cuss words and they make me laugh--it is a good solid way on making a point. It really doen't offend me.
Now vulgar cussin is another thing entirely & so is using it to draw attention.
I try and respect folks and this board---in person you might get shocked if your ears are real tender.
Blessings

Interesting subject here. I am a multiple time offender, and pretty much scratched my head when my hand was slapped... didn't see where I was wrong by defending myself..... After much self examining, figured out that my way of thinking isn't always exceptable!! Ok, kewl, I felt better knowing that. Never too old for a reminder... creative spelling.. now that was a good one, took me a little while to figure out what that one meant... got it now.. just because I spelled it different, doesn't mean I didn't say it...

I appreciate this board greatly, it really is the best of any boards I have participated on, love the rules here, they really are guidelines to a good life. Thank you Lee, and the other Mods that have reminded me .....

It is quite refreshing to enter this forum, most behave like adults, insults and just plain nastiness is not tolerated.

All of us are guilty of not totally reading all the rules which appear in writing for us to follow.

I received a message from "The Man" for a very small infraction having nothing to do with others.

I apologized for my ignorance, didn't become sensitive, and won't ever violate said rule.

If you mess up, accept it and don't repeat. This forum is the very best on the internet, and one I want to continue to visit.

For my small sin, after notification, I was embarrassed and became a Bronze Contributor, that's how I handled the whole situation.
