Red face Shooting a Model 65

Hi:
I was invited to try a Model 65 at the local indoor range.
Started with Federal 158gr. JSP-6 rounds at 7 yards and 6 rounds at 15 yards. Impressive group ( I shot single action).

Next I shot Remington 125gr. JSP- 6 rounds at 7 yards and 6 rounds at 15 yards. WOW!! I thought that I was using a high power flame thrower!
Thank the good lord for the factory oversize grips. Again single action shooting and a good tight group.

The Federal 158gr JSP printed 3-4 inches high.
The Remington 125gr. JSP printed POA.
Enjoyable session of shooting with a friend.
Jimmy

To me, the mod 65 is just about the perfect all around handgun.

Me too. In fact the 4" handling and balance reminds me a lot of a SAA.

I, too, have an inordinate fondness for the 4” M65, and am spiffin’ mine up. It’s a work in progress, but here is a sneak peek at where I am with it today:

And here’s an earlier thread I did on the first stage of this project: http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolvers-1961-1980/164466-plain-jane-gets-gussified.html

More to come. I think this project will complete in about a year.

That's one great looking hand gun. Now all you need is one of those expensive Tyler T-Grips and a little range time.

My 65-4 4" is my favorite of the ones I have owned as far as consistency at producing real tight groups a 7 yards out to 20 or so, for me anyways. Probably the one I will hand on down to my son.
Peace,
gordon

I have an old M-65 4" too. When I used to take it to qualify - everyone would stare at me funny until I out shot all their bottom feeders. In the stage where we did 10 rounds with a reload, I could get off my 10 rounds (4+6 with speedloader) faster too.
