Default little raccoons

need some info from the most knowledgable. i noticed today we have at least two small coons in our tree about 10ft. from the deck and low enough i can almost touch them. don't know how long they have been here and don't want them this close to the house. we feed the birds and squirrels so there is food and water. nearest timber is at least 300yds away and haven't seen any full grown ones here or flattened on the street. any suggestions besides calling animal control or a suppressed 22lr.

Years ago, I had a raccoon peering in my screen door almost every night, the typical noise making did not scare him off. Yet a glass of water thrown through the door did discourage him. After two or three showers he lost interest and stopped coming around. This got rid of the unwanted coon without causing any long lasting damage to either of us.

Try turning the hose on them.

+1 on trying the hose thing.

In a prior "life", a warm summer's night had the ex's cat sitting comfortably on the 2nd story deck, just outside the slider, which was open (screen door was closed, though). I was watching TV, until I heard the cat screetch and jump off the deck onto the front porch. Turned on the light, and there "he" was. A bucket of water did the trick, and I never saw him again.
