My new favorite seasonal summer beer

Once I tasted Wadworth 6X I just couldn't drink regular beer much anymore.

Wadworth :: Store

But I would need a constant flow of it to put up with British gun laws, so alas, no more 6X for me... :(

My usual year-round beer is Summit Extra Pale Ale, with an occasional Bell's Two Hearted for a change of pace. For summer, or if I'm in he mood for something less hoppy, then Bell's Oberon or New Glarus Spotted Cow. Every once in a while, I might take a Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, but just one. I would not want to get in the habit of drinking lemonade and calling it beer.

Scrimshaw pilsner by North Coast Brewing in Ft Bragg CA. (they have many great beers)

Best pilsner outside of Germany:p

Awesome summer libation.

Abita strawberry harvest. Yum yum.

Sam Adams summer ale is quite nice too.

+1 on the Abita-very crisp, light with just athe slightest hint of strawberry on the finish.
When I was In Wisconsin a few years back, I found the New Glarius Spotted Cow as well as the squirrel nut brown ale-wonderful. Whils in Ashville NC I found the Highland Brewery selections to be first rate.
When I travel, I always try to drink the local brew and have never been disapointed.

Got spoiled drinking beer in Eastern Europe. The Czechs and Germans with 100's of years of experience, REALLY have it down pat. Pilsner Urquell, Staropramin, Becks, Warsteiner, so many great pilsners.

Always seize the opportunity to try new things. I was traveling today and tried a Magic Hat #9. Seemed pretty good so I tried 2 more to be sure......yep pretty good.

I drank my very first Abita last night, a couple of Turbo Dogs while I was grilling shrimp seasoned with Creole seasoning, and two pretty nice ribeyes marinated in Allegro marinade. I really like this beer, but it's hard to find in Northwest Alabama; I bought mine at a Kroger in Huntsville, but I'm going to keep a lookout around here for it.

I'm with Caj about Highland Brewing Company in Asheville, NC. They have several good seasonal beers, but my favorite one is their Octoberfest beer, Clawhammer. I can find it in Columbia, but since I'm usually in the mountains in Fall, I get a couple of cases in Asheville to bring home. That way, I can drink my favorite seasonal all year long (it obviously isn't the only thing I drink).
