I believe I'd want to be grabbing the other end if I opened the door needing a rifle!

If I was carrying an AK in my truck, it would be in the bed, under the spare tire, with a glock under more junk so none of my friends would find out I had an AK.

I traded my bushmaster M4 gun in for an AK47. Went from having a .22 to a .30 cal rifle. Ammo is cheaper, i can hunt with it.

I now only own one 30 count mag. The 20's and 10's are SO much easier to work with. I like having a couple of 10's for sighting in when I goof around with trying yet a different optic on the rail. The 20's should really just be standard issue. Mine are all steel though. No idea on the Tapco or any other one. Magpul really needs to dip into the AK world.

It all just depends on why you are carrying. If it's for show and tell you would be better off without the Glock or the AK. On the other hand if you are packing for social interactions, where it could require shooting someone, just keep the guns where they will be easy to get to. The two guns you mentioned will work just fine for what they were designed for.

Any state that allows carrying a loaded rifle in the car allows for carrying a loaded AK with a folding stock. Those that allow only loaded pistols to be carried in the car... well you just have to get one without a stock on it that is nominally a pistol. Or in some states you just have to pop the mag and carry it nearby. Varies from place to place.
Not sure the battery life of that particular optic. I think I'd try to get an Aimpoint, you can leave those turned on for years. That way you don't have to worry about the battery going dead or having to pause to turn it on.
I'd personally also look at a quad rail system and a vertical foregrip. The VFG allows for some interesting "prop it against and fire" options in a vehicle. This would also allow you to attach a light.
Really helps to have the windows down though. Loud.

I use the same set up for my "travel" gun. Mine is a Bulgarian legal conversion to use the Ace folder. The twenty round magazines are great as they do not protrude below the pistol grip. As mentioned above, I have the grip next to the door so the muzzle is pointed away from me when removing it. I rarely carry passengers in the back seat so the muzzle inward transport is not a problem. I cover the gun with a jacket to keep window peepers form seeing it.

There is a pretty nice set up I saw on the net some time ago that mounts to the same place as your sun visors, and then the visors mount on it. The intent, I think, was more for a shot gun, but hey, should work for an AK as well. Flapjack.

I suppose ugly hookers would work for what they are designed for too, but I ain't buying one.
