Default What to do in San Diego

Headed to San Diego we are going to hit the zoo and check out the Navy ships but what else should I see when we are there? What not to waste time on? and some good places to eat? I heard of the Gas Lamp area. So tell me what you think. Thanks

Don't waste you time at SeaWorld..there is something depressing about killer whales dancing for their dinner.

I'd have to look up and drive by the old Hensley & Gibbs place.

Gas Lamp area is a must for food and it's right across the street from the waterfront/marinas, nice area to stroll. Go over the bridge to Coronado, nice beach and famous Inn. Take a sweater/sweatshirt, it gets real chilly at night. Probably forgetting a lot.

I highly recommend the Midway tour. It was very impressive. If you are a beer drinker, the Yard House in the downtown area has over 100 draft beers and a very good food selection.

We just got back from there. We took the grandkids and had a blast. The SD Zoo was great and so was Seaworld. We went to Coronado Island where my son's boat was. The Carl Vinson was great to tour. I don't know the address but there is a restaurant named---Kings Fish House---great place to eat. I believe it is off Hotel Circle South. Have fun and enjoy the weather.

DO the Midway tour...all of it...spent several hours and was worn out when it was over. Impressive..and fun...and educational.

Dick's Last Resort in the Gaslamp District. Cheap beer...sunny6...fun.

Freddy's burrito joint...also in the Gaslamp. GREAT CHOW...you will think they made a mistake on the check...in your favor.

Drive up to to Del Mar and Torrey Pines. You will be glad you did.

Padres' game...fab ballyard. One of the very best. Hangout in beyond centerfield park. Hang out even if they're on the road during your visit. (You can watch away games FREE on the big screen.)

Be safe.

As well as some of the places mentioned by others:

Balboa Park ( Aero Space Museum, Ruben H Fleet IMAX theatre, history museum and more.)

Old Town (Great mexican food places, also just a nice place to visit.)

Seaport village ( tourist shopping and decent restaurants)

Wild Animal Park (large outdoor type zoo.)

Beaches at La Jolla

Del Mar racetrack (if into horses.)

City of Julian ( quaint town, fresh apple pie and products)

Silver Strand State Beach ( very nice, also SEAL training area.)

Mission Bay ( Bayside beaches, parks, etc.)

Hope this helps.
