Default Too Many Guns, Too Few Kuracs!
Man, I love these stocks by Kurac. That's claro walnut on top and cocabola on the bottom. I'm picking up a blue 3 1/2" 27-2 in a few days and might put those cocobolas on it. It gives me a headache trying to figure which guns deserve these. The walnuts will stay on the 29-2, though.

That 29-2 looks like it probably takes up a lot of room in the safe. If you need to clear some space...

No, my cocas were bought new in an ad here and the walnuts were about to be in an ad when I e-mailed him. The claro walnuts are a little thicker than the cocabola rosewoods. I prefer the rosewoods but they are both great.

See if he has any Snakeskin Fiddleback Black Walnut, I have a set on my 4" 29 and they are amazing. I will try to get a pic I only have one on my phone so I can look at them at work! I aint right!!

Here is a model 629 with Kurac's stocks in smooth teak,


and here is a 66-2 with claro walnut stocks by Kurac:

John is a great guy to deal with and he makes outstanding quality stocks at a reasonable price.
I highly recommend him to anyone.

Probably the best buy in grips/stocks around. Excellent quality, fit the revolver they are supposed to, and fit my hand better than anything else. Priced reasonably, and probably too cheap for the quality.

Do any of you have trouble with that flare at the bottom hitting the heel of your hand? I see how it'd feel great if it does fit a particular hand.

No problem for my hands, which are at the large end of the medium range. I can see that very large hands might have a problem with the flare.

The best thing about Kurac stocks in my opinion is the large palm swell, which is hard to spot in side photos. I think of them as neo-Cokes; they really fill up the center of my sort of hollow hands.

I asked him once theoretically if he could put the palm swell on the left side only for me (I'm left handed) and he said no, it wouldn't be symetrical. He's a perfectionist and does it his way and I don't blame him. His stocks are just fantastic. I showed a shooting buddy my 29 with those walnuts and he had to ask if that was wood, they are so smooth and glossy. And that bottom flare doesn't bother my average size hands at all.

I still have the first set you made on my 1917. They were a trial set and the top curve was off a hair but fit nice on the gun. You were going to reproduce them and a lot of people expressed an interest in buying them. You make a nice grip and that exhibition set is sweet. Larry

Hi, John. Rotten photo, huh? You mean they look BETTER than this in person?! My palm swells are more pronounced than on this pair. But It looks like these are just thicker stocks overall. And rediculously great grain!

Thanks for all the kind words guys.

I carve these free hand so there is going to be some variation from one set to the next. I have also noticed that over time there has been even more variation.
