Default This tugs at your heart strings...

Navy SEAL Petty Officer First Class Jon Tumilson died in that awful chopper crash in Afghanistan. Not the least of his mourners was his dog Hawkeye, a Labrador. During the funeral service, he lay down next to his master's casket and would not leave.

We all grieve at the loss of a brave man. Those who say dogs have no feelings and cannot reason have another think coming. If you've ever bonded with a dog, you know differently. This picture really got to me - a perfect example of the unconditional love shared between a man and his dog.

God bless our fallen, and may God look after those left behind.

John

A very dramatic photo. God bless all of these brave men and women as well as their loved ones.

John, I watched that video....and cried. I shed tears for Mr. Tumilson, Hawkeye, and the bond they shared. I have tears welling up again as I write this. Our dogs know more, and feel more, than a lot of people give them credit for.

Breaks my heart. So many wonderful young men putting their lives down for this country. I am supremely grateful for these men. I know in my heart that these will be welcomed and given a place of honor in heaven.

My eyes start leaking just thinking about this picture. I am sure this young man will be waiting at the Rainbow bridge for Hawkeye.

I know that dog's can't talk. But if they could i think this is what they would say to saint peter when they got to heaven. " Another dog reporting sir i've served my master well"

This is why I prefer the company of dogs to the company of a great many humans. RIP Mr. Tumlinson.

Hopefully Hawkeye will find a new home that can appreciate what a fine dog he is and what a great family member he will be. Family with young children who need a new best 4 legged buddy and companion would be a great match.

I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread. Just puts a lump in my throat and now I have to regain my composure.

May he rest in peace.

This is about the third time I've seen this story, and I still have to wipe my eyes and hug my dog...

I agree with earlier posts. What a show of love and devotion from Hawkeye. I get a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye every time l see this. Prayers for all of our fallen warriors and their families.

I saw an update where one of Officer Tumilson's old friends is going to care for Hawkeye.

Thumbs up Dogs are so good for the soul........

God bless all those that understand. Our brave and loved deserve the greatest understanding in our power. I had to put "Hoss" down a short time ago. The acceptance and companionship of a pet is truly incredible. I miss him greatly.
