Anyone see Top Shot this week?
That shoot off confirmed my own experiences in learning to master shooting a revolver in Double Action. That is wheelgun shooters just shame those who only shoot semi's, Cliff flat out smoked Drew.

I agree. I think everyone thought Cliff would be headed home, but he tore that younger guy up.
I'm impressed with the church camp kid, too.

I record the show on my DVR so I can FF through all the "drama". Only watch the shooting segments, and you can get through the whole show in 15-20 minutes. Also helps to mute out the running commentary by the idiot/hunk host. I'd sure like to have all those cool target setups on my local range.

I was watching it and have to say I was very upset at the disrespect the Blue team showed to the "instructor/expert." It's is nice they work as a team and can play, I mean practice with a golf club. BUT, to tell the expert they had a strategy/practice/routine and started shouting at the shooter during training like a drill instructor, I thought was very rude. After they shot the jars, I called it a night. Question of the week...who cleans up all the broken glass???

Maybe it's "movie glass" which is basically crystalized sugar. If so, nobody has to clean it up but I'll bet that range has a VERY WELL established ant population.

I quit watching the show last season. The shows name is Top Shot, ergo, the best shooter should win, IMO. That's not the way it works.

I tell people all the time that shooting a revolver briskly and accurately in DA is probably one of the toughest shooting skills to master.
The mental side as well. The guy is a pistol champion. He's used to pressure of exactly that nature.
Same with the kid in season 1 or 2. They kept dissing him because he looked about 12 years old. The dude is on the National freaking rifle team. You don't achieve that by being mentally weak.
90% of the game is mental. The other half is skill.

I do like that the show does try to keep the competitors off balance. They fired shotguns, but with slugs, thus taking the factor of being a good aerial target shooter out of the equation. I really loved the shooting from the stagecoach. To win the competition, a shooter has to be very well-rounded, quickly adaptable and mentally tough. I too am not enamored with the host nor the off range stuff. Overall, I like the show. Probably give it a 3 1/2 stars out of 5. It's certainly better than 90% of the **** on tv these days.

I love Top Shot!
As much as I love shooting, and it's a huge part of my life, the coverage on shows like American Shooter and FN 3 Gun just bores me to death. It's like watching golf. No personality, I don't know any of the shooters so I don't know who to root for. Most of the shooting is so fast I can hardly tell what's even going on.
The split screen for two head to head competitor on FN 3 Gun drives me crazy as I can't watch both at the same time. No editing to allow an explanation of what is going on.
I'll take Top Shot and their 40,000 frames per second super slow motion (very expensive too) cameras every time.
I like Colby's commentary. His running play by play is designed to give the shooters a little bit more of an adrenaline rush. There's probably not much worse than shooting...and missing...and then having Colby shouting, "He misses...AGAIN!"
Colby is an experienced shooter, hunter, and gun enthusiast with a record from Survivor of knowing how reality tv works.
I enjoy the "drama" because that's what gives the viewer someone to root for. Or against.
There ain't much else to watch on tv, especially when it comes to firearms shows. I DVR Top Shot and fast forward through the commercials. It only comes out to around 46 minutes a week spent in front of the tv. What else am I gonna watch, reruns of Oprah?
I do actually like watching to see what commercials are on during Top Shot. For those who don't support movies with anti-gun actors or businesses with anti-gun agendas, just take notice of the what companies are supporting Top Shot with their advertising dollars.
Last week, I saw a couple of my favorites advertising on Top Shot like Ford and Red Lobster. I feel even better about supporting them with my hard earned dollars!

^^Agreed^^
They have cut the drama wAAAAAy down in the 2nd and 3rd seasons. The only times they spend in the house is after the elimination, and between the team challenge and nomination range. Which is ok because you get to see the team that worked so well, or not, revert back to what they really think of each other. Last season was a joke when it came to "best shooter advances" this season is shaping up to be different IMO.
The only thing I am leery about this season is, can you really test your accuaacy with a gatling gun? or that big *** mountain gun? nervous about those ones...

I like Top Shot for what it is. Entertainment with guns and shooting. Nuff said.

I watch it because I enjoy all the shooting stage setups. Some of those look to be beyond challenging, such as the stagecoach run on last season. I also found that shootoff this week to be very interesting, would just love to see some local ranges duplicating setups like that.
