In 1975 I worked all summer managing the local city pool. Saved my money. When I went back to college, I purchased a SS Rolex Submarnier (for $499 + tax). Still wear it today. I have a Rolex my Grandmother gave my Father back in the 40's. Damn things never wear out, or go out of style.

I bought my first Rolex in late 82, a Sub Date 16800 for $1175 and it looks new today even after wearing it 20 years straight and abusing the heck out of it.

I bought a two tone Daytona with the 4130 engine, but sold it at a tidy profit after wering it a year and today I wear a Yacht-Master I bought in Grand Cayman in 2003.

Don't get me wrong, I wear Seiko too. I have a Black Monster that I'm wearing now and after my mechanic calibrated it, it's super accurate! Beyond the -4 / +6 and well into electric territory.

I also have a Seiko military and a 6105 that I prize highly.

One day I'll get a Sinn or two and if I hit the lotto, I might consider a few others.

I wouldn't have a Rolex if I could afford it. Why not? Simple, no one would believe it was real.

The only watch that will run on me is a timex, for some reason every other watch I've tried either runs backwards or stops?

Plus the cell will always be more accurate. Sad really.
How accurate do you need time to be? It's all relative according to some guy named Einstein.

BTW (bragging a little) I have a Blue Angels Citizen titanium that is more accurate than any cell phone. Sets itself every nite at 2am, and unlike most other brands of radio control, is superbly accurate between settings. Turned off the radio control once and it kept within 3 seconds a month on it's own.

Having said that, I still love my autos more than the quartz models. Rolex is a little beyoind my means, but would like to have one someday if I win the lottery.

I have two cell phones and one Blackberry issued for work. Every time I drive over a river, I'm tempted to throw it out the mumble mumble window.
