So Sunday I'm in a LGS and actually heard GOOD advise given.
While I was in The Fin yesterday a customer came in and picked up a can of Pyrodex. When the clerk asked what the customer intended to shoot the Pyrodex in the customer said he had just picked up a 32 caliber flintlock and wanted to try it squirrel hunting. The clerk advised the customer that in his opinion Pyrodex was not a good choice for a 32 flintlock and suggested FFFG black powder.
When the customer asked for FFFg the clerk told him they did not have any, but gave him directions to a LGS that usually had it in stock. Those of us who have fooled with flintlocks know the clerk was correct. However after hearing reams of questionable advise the last few years in gun shops I was impressed that the clerk not only knew what he was talking about but would rather lose a sale that make a bad sale.

You don't hear of that too often. Kudos to your LGS unless the boss man just let the counter guy go over that one...

Good for the salesman. Need more like him. When i was very ignorant about handguns, had a gs salesman tell me I could by a used (loose) Colt in .32-20 and have as good a revolver as a S&W .38/.357 revolver. The price was only $30 less for the Colt. I decided to wait and save for the S&W. Glad I did. Don't think the Colt would have really worked out to well.

Not all staff in gun shops are idiots. I will say that some of my best entertainment is in listening to the conversations at my local Cabela's from both sides of the counter. ie. I finally know what a Browning HP really stands for....according to a the Cabela's employee it means that it will feed Hollow Points!!
Didn't know that......

Glad to hear that people like the clerk can still be found every once in a while.

Well, at least it wasn't the "Hewlett Packard" version.
