Question What's Your Occupation?

Are you currently working, going to school, retired, disabled, or other?
What was/is your occupation?
I was a pipefitter/ welder for for over 30 years before becoming disabled to a rare bone disease. I was also in the ARMY Reserve for (8) years.

I have my own HVACR business. I do a lot of maintenance and repair and some installations. I've been in business by myself for a little over a year, before that I worked for my father's company after I was active duty Air Force. He retired and I took over a few of his contracts.

While I was working for my dad I also went to school to expand upon my HVACR... Figured I might as well use some of the GI bill.

I'm also a Staff Sergeant in the USAF Reserve and am a C-5 Loadmaster.

After I quit being a full time road musician I kicked around the
parts departments of various auto dealers in Tulsa & Oklahoma City. Then about two years ago my health took a real turn & my
life became a LOT more interesting...So now, I'm disabled, retired, or both I guess. I get around a lot better than when I
got out of the hospital, so its not all bad. I don't miss the car
business, but I sure miss a lot of my friends from the business!

Retired seller of sugar cane harvesting and process equipment, also machinery for the pineapple and forestry industries. The company exported most of the equipment so spent lots of time, 50%, traveling overseas.

Default Retirement II

I took 55 retirement as an Airline Aircraft Inspector with 33 1/2 years in 1996, then as a used aircraft dealer with my own airstrip where I still live. I bought and sold a little over 100 airplanes (mostly Beech Bonanzas) Retired from that in 2011 after getting a 'nastygram' from the FAA and sold my last two Bonanza's a little over a year ago.

Now it's pretty much as 'feralmerril' describes his retirement. Lots of reading, computering,(is that a word?) and NO TV. Haven't had TV in over a year and I Love it. (Nobody telling me who I should be mad at or how to think)

IT professional, both network admin and workstation support.

After two years of unemployment, I'm in the worst job I've had in thirty years, coordinating replacement of leased computers in a large hospital organization. It's way below my level of expertise, but it's all I could find in this economy. No vacation or sick days, and random days off without pay. The project manager for my employer is blitheringly incompetent and cravenly dishonest. I don't know ANYBODY who's not looking to get out if they can.

I was a mechanical designer in a research department. That is probably one reason guns fascinate me. I had to retire to health probs way too early so any work I do is around the house.

Wouldn't the Pope(CL!)be in line for that position? I don't know,
I'm confused, would that be a step up or a step down for him?

Utility trial lawyer - almost 30 years - personal injury (both plaintiff and defense), family law, criminal defense and business litigation. I get hired more often than I should by other lawyers after they have screwed up a case and then they hire me in at the last minute to try and salvage it. It is a lot of fun to see a case for the first time on Friday and start trial on Monday.

95% of that career was as a pipefitter. When my health started going downhill my company (22 years with them) put me in charge of the fab shop and training/teaching future pipefitters. I did that for just over 6 years until I woke up one morning and could not walk.

Retired from 3 decades of L.E. in 2008 (Raleigh, NC)
Now stay busy working p/t at a LGS/Range and working as a Firearms Instructor/Trainer with another small firm.
Stay a lot busier than I planned. Be careful what you wish for.
