I am sorry to hear about Bill Goodman. Years ago he had some good shows in Nashville. Back then he had the only show. I don't go to the Goodman show any more, the people who run it are jerks. There are plenty of other shows where I can spend my money. Don

His son has been running his show for years now. I don't feel anything toward him. There was a time when he ran a good show. A string of his misconduct just turned me against him.
First came when he adopted a policy of canceling shows at the last minute, but left his recording that still advertised it. It resulted in our making a couple of road trips, only to find no gun show. It sours you to the promoter.
Then came the incident up in Dayton, OH when the gun went off. A dude (black individulal) came in the front door. Everyone is asked if they have any firearms, but supposedly the guy said "no". Then he proceeded down the front tables, asking everyone if they wanted to buy a gun. When they got to the big burly guy, I guess a farm boy with enough hair to be mistaken for a black bear, he brought it out to show the guy. He racked the slide, then dumped the magazine. Then pointed it at the floor and fired the round he'd just chambered. Of course it was just a cheapo .25, but it went bang. The bullet hit the concrete floor and bounced up and hit a girl in the leg. Didn't break the skin but it hurt. Her boyfriend wanted to kill the guy, but wasn't allowed.
None of that was Goodman's fault. Dayton police wouldn't prosecute, they didn't see the events so they told Goodman he would have to swear out a complaint. He refused because he'd have to come back to town to testify. Too much trouble and expense for him, so he declined. And that's why I don't like his shows.

I too quit going to Goodman shows when he cancelled at the last minute, didn't even tell the venue parking folks. I paid my parking only then foun out no gun show, pretty thoughtless of him as a promoter. Some of the help running his shows could be pretty rude and abraisive too. RIP Mr. Goodwin.
