Hello

A friend came by today to show me a set of smith grips he had just picked up.

They are a set of magna style Smith k frame grips made out of fully engraved sterling silver with looks like four gold Mexican theme relief medallions (or coins?) attached to them. Total weight of the grips are 3.2 ozs.

Have not been able to upload pictures to photobucket but have pictures I can email to someone who can.

Was looking for some additional info, grips are marked made in Mexico, sterling sliver, 0925.

They are gorgeous in a Texas BBQ gun kind of way, do they have BBQ in Mexico?.

thanks for looking. olypenn222

EBay vendor "Thaddeus_maximus" has a set for sale. I think they're way cool. I couldn't begin to afford them though.

Of course they have BBQ in Mexico.
It's like a "Big Mac". Big Mac's a Big Mac but in Paris they call it "Le Big Mac".
A BBQ in Mexico has got to be called El Bar Be Que.:D

Maybe "barbecoa", as the buccaneers did when they originated that style of cooking beef? That was corrupted in English into "barbeque".

Good question. Any Mexicans here?

I'm not a Mexican (I'm an Ohioan which is similar 'cept our language resembles English even less than Spanish!) but I do believe you must be right. The Chipotle Burrito fast food chain offers "Barbacoa Beef" which is indeed brisket.

You are the wise one, Sir!:)

Ruins my "Pulp Fiction" joke but nonetheless ....

The term BBQ is of Mexican origin. In the late 19th century, Mexican bandits would raid campsites, mostly for food...these men were called Burrito Bandits...some were even called BBB's if they raided the camp in the morning (for Breakfast Burrito bandits). But mostly, they were just referred to as BB's until one fateful raid, when one of the raiders sexually assaulted a camper in his sleeping bag. From then on they were called BBQs.
