Default A new Gun TV Show

Im pretty sure its the discovery channel and it looks like a more realistic portrayl of a gun shop and gun owners. Mind you this is from a 45 second tv commercial. But I cant find anything about it online. Near positive it was titled American Gun(s)

I saw the ad, and it did look a tad more decent than some of the other shows, but I'll wager that it will end up being another conflict-driven soap opera where they also happen to shoot guns.

Thats what Im worried about. Really dont need another Sons of Guns. I have no use for a 3 barreled Saiga gatling, a chromed out chopper MG or a 1000yard AK.

Given the photo they are using to promote it, I'm already groaning. If you can't afford decent clothing for your wife and daughter, maybe you should be doing something about that instead. A 16 year old who dresses like Daisy Duke? Her mother in that get-up? Really? And you expect me to take this show seriously? I know I'm a fuddy-duddy, but come on.

I'll hold off final opinion until I see an episode, but it doesn't look promising to me.

Many (most?) reality shows are not about the core subject matter, but rather about the characters and the egos, drama, conflict, etc. Without that, most of these shows would be lucky to last one season. As much as most of us on this forum would like a reality show that was gun focused with little or no drama, we are in reality a small part of the population that watches these type of shows I suspect. Much the same can be said for American Chopper, which after about the first year had nothing to do with Choppers and everything to do with conflict, drama, and ego's.

I had never heard of the shop in this show until this thread, but a simple google search indicates that Discovery may have found a 'character' in the owner of this shop. Hopefully though, the show will provide positive and value-added information about guns, gun history, gun owners, and gun rights. Hopefully.

Did anyone notice where Mama had that rifle pointed, and did they notice where she had her trigger finger? Wonder how many episodes in it'll be before Mama shoots someone in the foot.

The shop in this show is literally right down the street from my office.

But Mama always said, "If you can't say something nice ..."

After reading up on it, Ill give it a few episodes to give a pass or fail. Im pretty sure the only good gun related shows Ill ever watch is on History (Guns of the world, Tales of the gun) and Outdoor Channel.

I'm all for giving this one a try.
I watched 7 full minutes of the first SOG show(I did put a 'G' didn't I?) before I started screaming.
I do have a good supply of torches and pitchforks on hand. Just in case.

As much as I would love to say that those here would watch a show where nothing was discussed but firearms, I cannot. I am as avid a fan of firearms as they come but there are firearms I do not like. If a show started talking about certain brands, models or such, I would turn it off.

Shows must have several things going at once so something will appeal to every viewer and hold their interest. The women, the feuds, the process, the guns, the customers and many other things may be needed to hold this show together.

I am still trying to find why Billy, The Exteminator is still airing and why anyone cares to watch it.

I agree oldman45, Billy the exterminator is an awful awful show. I googled the owners name for the new gun show and its never good that the second listing under his own website is an incident from THE RIPOFF REPORT and a bunch of very unflattering incidents between himself and customers, his ex wife and local PD's. He sounds like a total ****. I may skip this one and wait for American Hoggers on A&E. At least the daughter in that one is 23 and a former finalist in Ms.Texas

I will get it a try, may be more funny than "Lock & Load". Funny thing though, Lock & Load is in Denver also.

Go to co-ar15 and search "Gunsmoke" in the general discussion section. Might want to make some popcorn first.

I'll bet whoever took that photo was more than a little nervous. It's unfortunate that most TV shows today are designed to entertain, not educate. And with entertainment comes drama and conflict. What bothers me most about these (gun) shows is there's little resemblance to real life. And the general public, with no knowledge of guns, come away with some real misconceptions. And many of them may be thinking "Are these the people advocating for less gun control?". Sad.

Gave it a try last night, much worse tthan I could of imagined! So much wrong with this program-bogus story line, fake drama, fake other things, overexposure of non firearm objects, rampant arrogance and on and on. I guess documentaries, some competition and some hunting shows might be the only way to see firearms in a realistic light on TV. My 9PM Central Time viewing slot is still open.

I watched part of this last night. Best way I can describe it is "ludicrous trash." First and last time I'll be wasting my time on this joke.

Alongside todays trash television it sounds, from your description, like they have a big hit on their hands.

I feel warm liquid hitting the back of my neck and the Discovery Channel tells me it's raining.
I looked up the 'official' TDC bio on 'American Guns'.
We have Rich Wyatt, wife Renee & their 2 kids. Boy 21 and girl 16. Gun shop called Gunsmoke outside Denver Co. A good looking, gun loving family.

Now on the other hand there is the Rich Wyatt, owner of Gunsmoke gun shop outside Denver Co. who went through the really nasty divorce in '05. (Ex)Wife named Rebecca.

This is a type of 'reality' unfamiliar to me.
All too confusing for me . I think I'll catch up on my reading.

Steve, People want to be entertained. That is why they have churches with bowling alleys, movie theaters and such. We have became so aclimated to multi-tasking that it takes more to retain our attention. Humor, drama, fear, excitement and a lot more is required to be entertaining. If it does not entertain, it is not going to attract the people.

Another problem I see with a gun show is there are sections in the US that is basically anti gun. People in some areas is not going to watch a gun show. There are sections in the US where owning guns is as natural as owning a four wheel drive pickup. These people will watch guns shows as long as they are on. So how does one get both segments to watch the show? They will have to get some entertainment.

I watched the show. Wasn't impressed at all by the theatrics of it all. Taking a helicopter to buy 6 Winchesters, then dickering over the price? Not on my Ranch! You fly in, you fly out at MY price!

Building a cheap knuckleduster from scratch? Dumb

I feel a fantasy coming on!! And the daughter is already 16. I get worried when I ogle a pretty young thing then find out she is only 14 ... I'm not Jerry Lee Lewis.

I have only seen the photo, not the show.

Did someone say they had guns as well. Never noticed.

+1, I really like the part where he sends the daughter in the microshorts out to the biker rally to get them to come into the shop, yuck. I live in the Denver area and have never been to this shop and I think I will keep it that way.

Don't like any of the current crop of "gun shows" seems there's alot folks that think any show dealing with guns is good.I think none these type shows depict anything I am interested in.

I just learned that American Guns got cancelled.
That show was a joke and the prices he charges for the **** he builds is insane.
However, Paige was easy on the eyes.

The show I like is Family Guns on NatGeo:

Family Guns TV Series Debuts on National Geographic Channel « Daily Bulletin

Lot's of really cool old milsurp stuff.
