Default "A Sense of Evil"

Well it's been 10 years....

Ten years I say, since I started this thread. So many great stories have been told and so many members have expressed their enjoyment in reading those stories.

Would love to hear some more stories about "A Sense of Evil"

Thanks, Carnivore

PS: Yeah, the zombie thread is back.

I saw a thread on another gun site that has kept my attention since 2007. Every now and then someone adds to it. I was hoping that some members may have something to say on the subject of "A Sense of Evil"

Have you ever been in a situation where all of the sudden you know something is wrong and you involuntarily react to it. Could just be the hair on the back of your neck standing up a little or it could be a gut wrenching wave of anxiety washing over you and there is no apparent reason why.

Here is my experience:

I had something like this happen to me in December of 2004. I was hunting at our camp in middle Georgia and was sitting in my favorite condo stand. It was about 11:00 am and suddenly it got completely quite. I mean no birds, squirrels, leaves rustling, nothing. Not even the long distance sounds of dogs barking or far away semi trucks. Nothing was moving, no wind, no sound. The way I viewed things became one dimensional, sort of like a painting, but not a picture.

I had the strong feeling that I was being watched from behind, even if I turned around in the swivel seat. I heard the seat squeak as I turned, but no other sound. No matter which way I looked, I felt like something was behind me. This went on for about ten minutes. I thought about leaving the stand, but climbing down the ladder with the feeling that something evil was watching me was not appealing.

Finally, sounds returned and my perception of the landscape was again normal. I sat in the stand till noon as planned, then rode my Rancher back to camp. My hunting partners asked how my hunt was and I did not have much to say then or for the rest of the day. Did not hunt that afternoon and the next day, morning hunt I went to a stand 7-8 miles away from my favorite stand.

I have thought that maybe I had an episode of paranoia of some sort, but I am not a worry some type of guy. Normally things do not bother me much. While it was happening I was in complete control of my thoughts and was not panicking at all. What was happening was real. How or why it happened, I do not know.

That was a horrible experience and extremely unnerving. Not one I ever want to repeat.

Has anyone else had something of this sort happen to them?
