Glock and Walther have been making OD green pistols for several years. I shot a OD green Wilson Combat 1911 ten or twelve years ago. May be new to S&W, but not particularly new to handguns in general.

Did you do that work or is it either a factory order, or someone like Cylinder and Slide?
I like them very much.

The 29-3 I got in a trade. I think he said it was duracoat. It is a very durable and forgiving finish.

The 681performance center came that way. Seems like it's called a Birdsong finish. The cylinder shows wear fast when you shoot it. Here's one that has been carried and shot a good bit. It is a sweet shooter and I like that it is chamfered for moon clips.

Thank God I'm not the only one. I recently picked up this OD green Mag-na-port Custom 29-10, love the gun, hate the finish. It'll be going to the 'smith in a couple of weeks to be blasted clean and parkerized to match my 586 L-Comp.

Taking pictures at gun shows?
This presents a problem at the shows in my area.
There is a Big Yellow Sign at the door with the following printed in large RED LETTERS.
NO LOADED FIREARMS!!!
NO LOOSE AMMO!!!
NO CAMERAS!!!
I know every cell phone but mine has a camera. But IMO gun shows are NOT photo friendly.

Default Taking Photos at Shows

I can sorta see the point about no photos at Shows....about two years ago at one of our Annual Military Shows.....a Dealer put on a display of his personal collection of 98-K Mauser Rifles.......Oh Lordy....he had about 15-20 of the most Beautiful...untouched..MINT.....WW2 Mauser Rifles Ive ever seen...and he had them on stands laying horizontally ...5 across....and there were three or 4 rows of them.......and he had a sign...NO PHOTOS......Most of the guys that display their collections dont want them photographed.....afraid of thefts later on...........its kind of rough...you are proud of your collection...but yet....you are almost afraid of showing it..........

It's not so much about theft of the guns themselves.
A thief doesn't need a pic. He needs the location, the ability to get them, and the opportunity. He won't be comparing each gun to a pic- he'll take all he can get.

It's more about theft of credit. A guy that takes the time and money to amass a collection doesn't want his collection pictured in a magazine or net article without his permission. Worse still would be posting all over the net by some dork that claims it is his collection.

If he allowed pics, those pics belong to the taker and he can use them as he wishes.
