And God Created Wyoming
And God Created Wyoming . . .
God was missing for six days. Eventually, Michael, the archangel, found him, resting on the seventh day.
He inquired, "Where have you been?"
God smiled deeply and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look, Michael. Look what I've made."
Archangel Michael looked puzzled, and said, "What is it?"
"It's a planet," replied God, and I've put life on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a place to test Balance."
"Balance?" inquired Michael, "I'm still confused."
God explained, pointing to different parts of Earth. "For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth, while southern Europe is going to be poor. Over here I've placed a continent of white people, and over there is a continent of black people. Balance in all things."
God continued pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."
The Archangel , impressed by God's work, then pointed to a land area and said, "What's that one?"
"That's Wyoming , the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful mountains, rivers and streams, lakes, forests, hills, and plains. The people from Wyoming are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent, and humorous, and they are going to travel the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking, high achieving, carriers of peace, and producers of good things."
Michael gasped in wonder and admiration, but then asked, "But what about balance, God? You said there would be balance."
God smiled, "I will create Washington , D.C. Wait till you see the idiots I put there."

That durned Congress thing should still be a part time job like it was at the first.
If them folks knowed they was only gonna be there 4 years and not git all them "bennies", maybe they would remember what home and America is about.

We went to Livingston, Mt. in 1988 when Jellystone..I mean Yellowstone Park was burning down. We drove through the burning park. We also took an excursion to Cody, Wy. to see... well, guess what I just HAD to see in that town. Montana was great but Wyoming really knocked me out. I just loved it. I remember really liking the Wind River area and Atlantic City. We had a great dinner at a restaurant at the top of a hill in Thermopolis at the airport. That was a nice town, too. Stayed at the Round Top Hotel in a little cabin. Wyoming is a great state. Especially if you prefer wide open spaces as opposed to dense forrests like I do. But I'm sure Wy. has it's dense forrests, too.

Hold on jimmj, I've been to Tennessee and it is really a great place, but we all know God lives in Colorado, even Merle Haggard wrote a song about it. In fact saw him just the other day, Merle, not God.

Obviously an man of limited travels ...
God does, in fact, live in Wyoming, NW Wyoming specifically...though I'll grant that, on occasion, he visits Tennessee ...

OK, I gotta get in here! I was born and raised in the Big Horn Basin of north-central Wyoming. Lived there for 45 yrs. though I now live in the SE section of the state. Most of the Basin, as we called it, is about 40 yrs. behind the times, and that's not a bad thing.
Anyway, a few years back I was out of town and my wife called me. Seemed my son, age about 12, wanted to take one of my rifles along with one of his friends and head out to the hills to shoot rocks and whatever. I said "sure." So Matt grabs up my AR-15, his buddy grabs his Dad's AK-47, and my wife hauls them out to the hills and drops them off. They spent the afternoon plinking and had a grand ol' time. Then they walked home - right through the middle of town in broad daylight. Picture that - two kids wandering through downtown carrying "assault rifles." Imagine the reaction you would get in most places! Ya know what happened to them? Nothin'! Except for one guy who stopped Matt and said "Hey, Matt, how's your Dad?" How good is that? They weren't botherin' anybody, and nobody bothered them. And that, by God, is the way it SHOULD be. What a great place!

When I was a sophomore in HS, I called the principal over to my car to show him my 300 H&H. We had a nice talk and he invited me to his place after school to see the new 30-06 he had just obtained.
Next day school was closed, all the boys, some of the girls, most of the teachers and their spouses was off elk huntin'".
Course now they close school for durn sight less serious reasons, but that's another story.

I guess all the spots I visited while training at Camp Guernsey WY must have been the places reserved for the Government... mostly rock and snakes. Might have to go back sometime in a civilian vehicle and see what else there is there!

A kid gets caught doing that around here, he gets dragged off to the granola mines just north of San Francisco and you never see them again.

I feel very lucky to see Iggy's back yard. Fortunately I'm not walking.

Reminds me of Clifford Irvings book "Tom Mix and Panco Villa" paraphrasing:
God was visiting with Gabriel, he said "I have made places with beautiful streams, green valleys, majestic mountains and lush forests. I am going to make a place with nothing. Gabriel said Lord, you cannot make a place with nothing. So God repented and made a place with only rocks and named it Chihuahua".
