WOW! A lot of us are in trouble if 2 guns and a pocket knife (and a stun gun) are considered an arsenal. I wonder what they would consider about 20,000 rounds of ammo along with a rack full of high powered rifles and maybe 50 handguns.

That's worse than, (I believe it was) Dianne Feinstein (correct me if I'm wrong), that said and arsenal is 10 guns and 1000 rounds of ammo!

I hear the footsteps of a Gorilla coming....

My arsenal is my garage, it is the building where I build and repair my weapons.

ARSENAL
Italian arsenale, ultimately from Arabic dār ṣināʽa house of manufacture
First Known Use: 1555.

Modern media can butcher the definitions of words all they want, but calling a dog a horse does not make it so.

This article of "news" "reporting" is shot through and through with race-to-the-bottom nitwittery ---

The title: "... Cool" Well duh, who doesn't think buying a gun would be cool, especially a teenage boy? This is like announcing that "Teen thought sex would be cool" --- hardly worth remarking.

Never mind the absence of any antecedent reference to the ostensible and ostensibly missing revolver, the writer of this phrase would have had his knuckles rapped in grammar school by Sister Mary Genuflecta, with a pointer, for such tortured grammar, or should have been fired for atrocious writing, had there been any supervision by copyeditors who should have known better than to embarrass their employer and insult their readers by letting such an amateurish atrocity be printed.

And then there are the school "officials" who give themselves a pat on the back by declaring that they successfully interceded. Which implies that some threat of violence was imminent (not supported by any facts or mention in the article...), or that the "teens" had some malicious intent.

This sort of sloppy writing, and brain-dead, incurious, "reporting" of the inane statements of "officials" shames and discredits what used to be regarded as the profession of journalism, now whored out and dumbed down to a level that deserves distrust and contempt. The degradation of news reporting is a worrisome threat to a democracy that relies on an informed electorate.

Lord have mercy--these loggerheads would have had a field day at my high school---course they were all in unlocked cars---well, cept for the knives.
I loved that spokes person who, with his best thespian face, was so adamant that these ppeople must learn to keep these weapons locked up.
Bet he gets a raise.
As I speak, I have two unloaded weapons on my computer desk. They are unloaded only because I am working on them.

They also make some high end AK's:

arsenalinc.com, US manufacturer and importer of the finest and most authentic examples of the time proven assault rifle design

And I guess certain people don't want to know that despite the fact I'm no longer a teen, I still think buying guns is "cool"...

Just trying to salvage anything useful out of this. 25. cal revolver, J frame size, moon clips and a 3 or 4" barrel. Maybe load it with some of those new super-duper hollowpoint type bullets they got now....HMMMM...stainless, make it hold 7 or 8...

I am the only one who thinks that the most disturbing points in this article are that a mentally ill minor sold stolen weapons to another minor on school grounds, and not the sloppy details describing the pistol?!

I say "way to go" to the brave student that reported the crime.

Gun Phobia isn't all that rampant with the press here in Montana.

The few times that I have seen unwarranted negative press or they refer to a guys mini 14 as an "Assault Weapon". I have written letters or e mailed the reporter directly.

When I'm visiting the relatives in CA or my Mom in NJ reading the papers each day is an education in a left wing run Press. A guy with a few old bolt action .22's a hunting knife and a box of .22 ammo is an instant "Terrorist" or "Anti Government" type with an "Arsenal" of weapons. Sheesh!

Hate to see WHAT a reporter with an agenda could do to me. Between the guns and ammo...I've got dozens of interesting old Military manuals on everything from Map Reading, to Demolitions. With Escape and Evasion, Improvised Weapons and Guerilla Op's thrown in.

Lay those out, toss in my autographed copy of Randy Weavers book on his ordeal, sprinkle about some ammo cans, My Dads USMC Kabar, and a few of my old Army cammies...I'm an instant whacko!!

My father (the wordsmith) drilled into me years ago:

An arsenal is a place of assemblage - an armory is a place of weapon storage...

Kids should not bring guns to schools today in spite of the fact many a good kid has come in from a morning in a deer blind, to attend class, without injury to anything except (hopefully) a nice buck (for you reporters out there "buck" is a term for a male deer).

Likewise reporters (both print and TV) should not speak of things they neither have knowledge of nor understand. Don't even start me on Diane Feinstein.

Default Did Someone Say This?

Arsenal is a factory for the manufacturing of weapons and ammunition, or am I reading the dictionary wrong?
I used to live across the Delaware River from the Frankfort Arsenal. Carter closed this facility in the late 70s. The factory I worked in hired a bunch of the engineers, tool makers and machinist.

As far as two firearms, knife and stungun. Not my idea of an arsenal, but I didn't go to journalist school.

Not at all. I merely intended to show how when it comes to firearms , the news media uses as many emotion-evoking words that they have know knowledge of the meaning or proper use of. I'm actually surprised they said "semi-automatic" and didn't call it an "automatic assualt pistol with a hi-capacity clip , fully loaded with hollow-point , armor piercing , cop-killer bullets" or some other nonsense

So-called "journalists" who so egregiously misuse the English language should be caned from the shoulders to the heels, over the entire posterior surface of the body. Arsenal.

Dunno about democracy itself, but politicians haven't relied on an informed electorate for some time. They prefer ignorance and a short attention span.

It's a relative thang! Any firearm(s) and/or knives are considered an unacceptable "Arsenal" when it comes to kids at school with guns. And, an we really blame the parents, teachers and administrators? there have been some notable school shootings, including one relly bad one here in Oregon.

This is the way media people see it.One gun is "a weapon", two guns is an "arsenal"!
In Brazil is the same, reason for I donīt buy newspapers anymore.
A bunch of morons!

If your guns and ammo are just stored in you house then you have an Amory, If you also repair them or manufacture them in you house then you whole house is the Arsenal. The Arsenal is the facility, not the cache of weapons itself.

According to the modern media, no matter where you store them your are a kook.
