Myth Busters just had a big boo boo!
According to the local news the Myth Busters show just had a cannon ball get away from them and put a large hole in a house two miles away and also damaged a SUV parked on the street. Apparently no one was injured. They were filming a segment at the Alameda County bomb range at Camp Parks using heavy artillery. No other details.

The guy with the cannonball-damaged minivan is missing a sure bet. Rather than scream about compensation, he oughta list the van on eBay as a "gen-you-wine, documented Mythbusters casualty." He could make a mint.
JMHO, FWIW.
Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

As long as no one was hurt I sure wish it was my house at got cannonball'd! You know they're going to fix the guys house and I wouldn't sign off on the damages until they promised to let me blow some stuff up and crash a few cars with them on a future episode.

I haven't been watching Mythbusters much. I came to appreciate the rocket scientists over at National Geographic and their insane weekend experiments a bit more.
I wonder if I could get my old friend Dan a show. He used to fall out of trees, set himself on fire (and run around afterwards hoping the oxygen would smother the flames), electrocute himself, poison himself with roach spray, stick his bare hands into clogged up toilets, etc. Would make for compelling TV.

I see a whole career here-
Sue Mythbusters.
Pawn the cannonball at Rick's.
Get on Judge Judy's show to get the van fixed.
Get a new house through the House makeover show.
Get on Dr Phil for counselling for the cannon ball phobia.
Do talk shows about the event for 2 years.
Start a foundation to outlaw cannons.

The video cut out half way through, but it did make some pretty nice round holes in the dry wall. Almost looked like saw-cut. I suspect this will be the end of all shooting subjects on MythBusters. They will have to go back to dropping toast off a roof to see if it will land "butter side up" I'm sure some legislation is right now being put together in Sacramento.

I was surprised to learn that the cantaloupe has been adopted as a unit of measurement --- is this now common usage, or peculiar to California?

You really only get to electrocute yourself once. After that the shows kind of over.

It's fairly common in states that regularly get large hail.

According to the AP report:
"Once it was launched, the cannonball traveled about 650 yards, bounced in front of the home, then tore through the front door and exited through a wall on the back of the house."
When I was a Range Officer in the Air Force, anything closer than 1000 meters to a live explosion was considered "danger close." A residential area within 650 yards of a bomb range is an invitation to a disaster. Hope the producers, and local government that owns the range, have deep pockets.

The round holes look a little suspicious to me. I doubt I could drill a hole that perfect, without tear out.

Was this there last show? Really what else do you expect from two special effects guys? It's bound to happen. Could of been worse. Still love there show. There's a reason all the shoreline forts had cannons.
Now they can go down with the ranks the include guys like Soupy Sales?
Just another ah ha moment.

Well Mythbuster's has now proven something. It's a myth that even under controlled circumstances the outcome can be predicted when dealing with a dangerous object!

A few ago out at Moriarty, NM I saw pumpkin gun go viral.
It was demo- at a Hallowen pumpkin patch and shooting down a road.
He angled it away from the road and hit a mobile home about 1/2 mile away.
Pumpkin cannon shooting over!

If this was the show I watched, the support/carriage collapsed causing the ball to over shoot the berm. They paid damages and moved to a more remote range. This isn't the only show that has fired off a cannon, even Pawn Stars as done it twice.
