Now I'm fast becoming a pachmayr only fan as their rubber grips just feel a hell of alot better to me than the ones hogue makes.

Like the hogues just feel way too oily, sticky and conduct far more heat from your hands than the pachmayr ones ever do, atleast with revolver grips as I switched the Dan Wessons V15's grips from a hogue one to an out of production pachmayr presentation one I found on ebay and never looked back.

and I just recently took off the hogue slip ons on my glock 17L for the same reasons as for the dan wesson and I'm just wondering if anyone has had the same experence with hogues, specifically the slip ons in this case and put on either the Tactical Grip Gloves or their normal Slip-On Grips in their place and never regretted it as I'm looking at them for a replacement for the hogue slip ons on the glock and I'm just wondering if the same thing would happen with it like the dan wesson before it if I did that and if there's any real difference between the tactical grip ones and the normal slip ons in feel as it mentions there its a difference in the kind of rubber they use

and how do they look on guns like the glock or even the smith and wesson second and third gen .45's as I saw a few with them on on gunbroker recently (the hogues not the pachmayr's) and they just seem to really add to the look of them and give the straight looking grip angle of the guns some definition and finger groves.

I used to have a Hogue Hand-all on my Glock 22. It loosened up and started rotating on the grip. I took it off. I haven't tried to find a replacement.

Yeah the same thing started happening with it, but the main thing that put me off was the feel

its like over time the grip absorbs the oil from your hands or something like that and ruins the feel of it

A trick someone shared with me to avoid the grip working loose is to spray the pistol stock and the inside of the Hogue/Pachmayr grip with hair spray. You can then heat it up a little with a heat gun or hair dryer. It also helps when attempting to slide a snug rubber grip onto the pistol stocks. If and when you decide to take it off, the sticky hairspray comes off easily with a little rubbing alcohol on a rag or cotton ball.

I have had the new Pachmayr TACTICAL GRIP GLOVE on my duty gun (G23) for about two weeks now, and I am very pleased with how it feels in my hand. I will try to post a photo later.

Have not got the chance to shoot with it yet- perhaps this weekend.

The best thing I found for the Hogue slip on grip was a pocket knife. Cut that sucker off after the first day of a two day 1500 round Advanced Pistol I course. Thing turned 90 degrees on the grip. Hope your Pachmayr works better.

I cleaned the grip on my SW40VE with alcohol before putting my Hogue grip on it. It's been on there two years come February, I carry it every day all day either IWB or in a Don Hume JIT slide belt holster and it has yet to move at all. I wipe it down with a bit of simple green diluted in water probably once a month or so to clean it, it still feels like it did when new to me.

hmm that's kind of interesting so it actually slips over the groves on the frame and fills them in, neat.

might do the trick then for the other glock I have that I was planning on getting rid of because the finger groves dont really fit my hand that well.

I think they make a nice companion for the newer pistols. Ugly grips for ugly guns.

well if you dont find the strict functionailty of a glock good looking the glock is kind of the anti christ of firearms, I'm more interested in finding a slip on that feels as good as the packs for the two glocks I have and it looks like it could also rectify the problem I've been having with one of them with the finger groves, where it just seems like they stick out too much to properly give me a good grip on the gun.

but I'm kind of planning on getting rid of that one from the getgo but it'd be interesting to see what it does to the feel of it.

mind you I did see a 4506 and 645 with hogue slip ons over the grips on gunbroker and they did add something to the look of the thing, but I'm kind of wondering if I could acomplish the same thing but without having it over the grip panels of the 645 by putting on the finger grip insterts of the 1911 under the grip

after all someone lighty modified the follower of a 1911 magazine to work in the 4506 and I know the 4506 mags work on the 645 so what's to say the grip angle isnt basically on par with the 1911 then and it couldn't potentally work?

Being a frugal Scotsman (partly) I just cut proportionate and varying widths of old bicycle intertube till it feels right.What? I'm old school, make use of what you have.

I use skateboard tape on my Glocks. One of the few things I don't like about Glocks. If you don't put something on the grip it's like trying to hang on to slimy wiggling catfish in the summer when your hands are sweaty.

They added much-needed finger grooves to my 3954.

Ugly? Maybe. Not caring much.

Stay in place? Definitely.

Indeed although I'm not sure if I really want to put something along the lines of skateboard grip on the gun, as I'm not sure how that would feel shooting it.

I was however thinking of the talon grips for the 17L as I dont think that would be as corse as skateboard grip which was on a 1911 I picked up once at my local gunshop and the pachmayr tactical grips for the glock 23 as my .40 looks about the same as the one rangemaster's got

Have them on my 457 Smith. They are great!

The tape is rough but not uncomfortable and adds no thickness to speak of to the grip. That is another thing I didn't like about the slip-on grips, added too much to an already big enough grip frame. The tape can be picked up at any hardware store. Just an option that is available.

Took a co-worker shooting for his first time with his new S&W Sigma , which he added the Pachmayr slip-on. I never shot a Sigma before , and I found it very comfortable.

just thought I'd say that I got the grip in the mail yesterday and it feels good on the glock 23 as fills in the finger groves giving it an even feel in my hand.

although I'm thinking about going for talon grips or skateboard tape for the glock 17 instead as I like the dimensions of the stock grip, although just out of curiosity how hard is it to cut skateboard tape for a glock 17 like that?

I use the stuff from Lowes that comes in a roll about 2" wide. Hardest part is getting a template cut. I used a piece of paper and pencil to shade trace a pattern for each side. Cut that out and trace around that onto the back of the tape. Remember to flip that paper pattern over or your grip tape will be backwards. Cut the skid tape with scissors, no big deal. Once you get a good set of templates made keep em because you'll want to put fresh tape on every couple of years or so. Oh and don't forget to clean the surface of the guns grip area with alcohol. You have to get all the oil and dirt off or the tape will not stick for long.
