Default Should I trade?

I have a '92 Chevy C1500 LWB 2WD PU.
A/C doesn't work - Cruise control doesn't work.
Apparently the fuel pump has croaked.

The guy that I bought it from (about 10 years ago) came over this morning and offered me a new Century AR-15 for it.

Is Century any good?
Anything I should know about the rifle?

PS - I also have a running '05 F250 PSD - So I won't be without a truck if I trade

Is your truck worth more than $1,250s to you?

I'd do it. Unless you want to sink more money into a truck that is about to turn 20 years old. Not sure about the rest of the condition, but say worse case scenario--in scrap metal around here you might get $400 for the truck.

And your asking this about a 20 year old truck that doesn't run??

Sorry but in my mind this would be a done deal.

I believe I would trade. First, you already have a running truck and unless you REALLY NEED another one and want want to put the money into fixing it, then I wouldn't (that doesn't seem too be the case).
Second, you can't have enough guns!

If the '92 has the pump in the tank your looking at $400-$600 to replace it. I used to keep a spare truck just in case for a lot of years. The cost to keep it legal (plates, insurance, inspections, if they apply for you, they did for me) made me eventually sell mine. I have not seen anything lately about Century. Their old track record used to be not so good. A running Chevy truck around here is worth $1200. If you can put the pump in without dropping the tank, you might be better off fixing and selling it.

Ask yourself. In reality, do you need an AR? What are you gonna do with it? If this guy wants a broke truck more than an AR what does he know that you don't?

P.S. I wish I still had that spare truck sitting in the yard.

I wish someone would have made me that offer a couple of years ago. I donated my truck that needed a fuel pump. It was a '78 F250 and hadn't run in a year.

If it is not your only means of transportation, including a city bus, I would make that trade.

Once again, I am going to go against the grain.

I just put over $14,000 into my 1996 Chevy 3500 to make it new. The body was like new, the frame and front end was good but it needed a motor (almost 400K on the old one). So I replaced the whole drive train and all the accessories like alt, starter, PS pump and everything else.

The cost of a new truck equipped like it was $52,000 and at my age, I could not see spending that money for a new one.

Your older truck can be repaired and maintained for a lot less than some here suggest. My in tank fuel pump ran less than $200. The truck actually is worth more than you might think if it looks good. Older trucks are really in demand. Yours is paid for. Insurance is cheap and it would be a cheap daily driver.

First off - Thanks.
Second - It turns out that it's actually a '91...
Third - I guess I should have been clearer about the situation.
I was/am going to sell the truck anyway - So it's gone either way.
I do have a back-up vehicle, but it's not a truck (or even a car for that matter )

I'd heard bad things about Century Arms builds and am wondering if anyone has had BAD results with one? Or is that just Internet BS??

Thanks again for the replies.

Century has had spotty quality control in the past. I have one of their Golani [Galil clone] that runs very well.
