Default American Guns

Any body watch that show? Don't see two many wheel guns but the guy must be an honest to goodest g-smith. Likes his Colt 45ACP, and spends money like I would like too!

Yes I watch that show. There is some unnecessary "cheescake" but other than that I like it more than "Sons of Guns"! But that is my opinion.
It is a dream to ever have the funds to pay for one of their offerings!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh well if I paid that much I probably would not fire it!

I watched a couple yesterday 'cause there wasn't much else and I was vegging out. What I saw was in a way a joke. This clown goes shooting in a plane. He takes a chopper to impress a client? What does it cost to fly a Jet Ranger these days, 3, 4, 500 an hour? If this guy's such a great gunsmith when does he work on any? The daughter makes a point of showing she carries a Colt Defender then says she's getting a tattoo on her 18th birthday. I guess in Colorado you can legally thumb your nose at the Fed law that says you have to be 21 to take possession of a handgun? She also makes a big deal of how much she knows about guns but then has to be shown how to hold a Smith BG 380? Their barrel man had a screwed up finish reamer and didn't see it? They mounted a pair of PPK/s's under the front bumper of a car in Colorado? How long are those going to work?

That show is a joke. The only thing it's got going for it is it shows guns a good light, a foolish light, but at good light. Reality TV at its worst! Uhhh, hold that I forgot about Survivor.

Rant over, Pecos

P.S. What "real cowboy" has 18,000 to 20,000 to pay for a one off rifle?

Lot of drama for sure. I agree with you on sons of guns. Now wouldn't it be cool to actually have a show with Larry of midway showing off his smithing skills.
NRA is putting out a new series called NRA Guns and Gold this month.
All in all it's good to see some nice guns.

The show does have a lot of fluff and over the top settings, but I must admit I do enjoy it for the most part. Anything that shows guns in a non-criminal, non-police atmosphere can be a good thing if it isn't overdone. They do stress gun safety...but blowing up an outhouse with a rifle might be a bit much. Did look pretty cool though. The next time I am in the Denver area I do plan to visit their store.

The attitudes on "Sons of Guns" is a real turnoff for me. Watched that one for only 20 minutes....won't watch it again.

Yeah Lee, I forgot about the explosive stuff. I guess they got that from either Top Shot or Sons of Guns. I enjoy seeing stuff blow up as well as anyone but what does that have to do with the quality of a custom built REPLICA of the Winchester 1866 in 44-40?

The episode I watched the daughter tried all day to strip down her .45 and finally had to be shown by one of her dads gunsmiths how to do it, then procceded to show her dad finally that she could do it so he would pay to fix her jeep. My dad would have boxed my ears until I did it right, oh well, definitely not the (old) days anymore.

American Guns does have too much fluff and the store owner likes to show off his wealth a bit. I do think the show is decent family friendly gun entertainment. Can't say that for Sons of Guns. The entire crew on that show remind me of the ignorant types that shoot-up road signs from the back of a pick up truck for entertainment. They build some really stupid weapons. Case in point- the Gatling Gun made from three Siaga AK shotguns. W-T-H is that good for?

I don't like the show.

However, I think it portrays the hobby in a positive light.

Can't stand the phoney-baloney explosions that are mandatory at the end of both shows, or the stupid, obviously "made for TV" projects, but I enjoy the occasional look at a rare or vintage weapon and the cheesecake makes up for the times that the folks on the show open their mouths...and speaking of opening ones mouth, Pecos, you might take a look at C.R.S. 18-12-108.5.(2) before you start blathering about the way we do things out here.

They built that for me. It's my new dove hunting rig. I've got it mounted on the back of my truck and I just cruise the fields. This way I can just pull the trigger and be guaranteed a hit.
I'm thinking about trying it for waterfowl, too. I just haven't sunk the funds in to a boat.

Did you see the sons of guns show where the guy installed a water activated float in the stock..........thought he was really on to something for duck hunters. Certainly that wasn't really serious
Also the owner, he sweats alot.

I watch it just like I watch "Sons of Guns", with the sound OFF. It's better than "Lifetime" that the wife is always watching !

"I guess in Colorado you can legally thumb your nose at the Fed law that says you have to be 21 to take possession of a handgun?"

Federal law states that you must be 21 to buy a handgun from a FFL.

In many states, it is legal for a person younger than 21 to possess a handgun.

Yes, but she has claimed, "I carry a Colt model 1911 Defender 45 automatic."

Where can she, at 17, legally carry? On their private property? While hunting? How about around town?

Cool

I'm a CC instructor in Louisiana. Here, 17 year old and up through 20 can legally possess a handgun, but they can't carry until age 21 when they can obtain a permit. I suspect Colorado to be similar. The daughter could carry in the store, their home or other private property, certainly not in public. Both shows are so far fetched as to be almost unbelieveable. I would surely like to get such gullible, ignorant, and $$$$'d customers as they get. But I view them one time anyway as it's better than what the wife is watching and they at least show guns in a positive light. Bob!
