I finished the book last night, not his best work. It was very short and seemed to be rushed out after the killing of OBL. I'm a big fan of Hunter, I wish he would go back in time and do some Earl Swagger when he was in the USMC in the 1930's.

Yeah, getting a little tired. The guy is very, very good, but his best work was about fifteen years ago.

My sister just got me 7 of his early books, one of them autographed. I just discovered him last year, and so far enjoyed his work.

Hot Springs is pretty amazing. Pale Horse Coming is a huge high-five for gun types, but horribly impossible to believe.
My only real gripe with him is the picture in my mind of Bob Swagger digging up guns out of the ground. I am not able to get my head around this decorated Marine burying a pistol and rifle in the ground.

Just started "Soft Target" last night - kindle version. So far so good. Features Ray Cruz - 3rd generation Swagger (Bob Lee's once lost adult son -see "Dead Zero") as well as Bob Lee's daughter (Nikki Swagger- the reporter).

I read it when it first came out. As others have said, I don't think it's his best work by a long shot. It did seem short as well. Still and all, it's entertaining and a good way to kill a few hours.

The trilogy of Point of Impact, Dirty White Boys, and Black Light just plain blew me away. When I was told they were a trilogy, I couldn't understand why since DWB seemed to have nothing to do wth PoI. Then I read BL and was just enthralled!

I agree with Muddyboot. Let's get some more of Earl. Pale Horse was a favorite.

Well I finished the book this morning and I have to agree it was good but not one of the best of his that I have read, I hope on his next one he can attain the quality of the first ones that I have. Jeff

Breezed through "Soft Target" in about a day and a half. Yeah it was pretty short but I'm guessing hunter is still fleshing out the "Ray Cruz" character, much in the same way "Earl" evolved from "Black Light". Enjoyed the book though, particularly the rather transparent way Hunter based a couple of the characters on easily recognizable people.
