In regards to this wonderful book, what factor would you give for upgrading the listed values in today's market. For instance, I have a Model 18 and have gotten varied suggestions on it's value. I have the box and tools, no papers. The gun in my estimation is at 95-98 %. Thoughts on this item?

After reading your thread I looked up the M18 in the SCSW. It says...
Poor - $100
Fair - $185
Good - $250
Very Good - $350
Excellent - $425
ANIB - $4675
I hope that last one is a typo.
I bought a M18-2 not too long ago that is probably between very good and excellent and I paid $150 to $75 more than the book says. I think that's a pretty good indication of present price differences.

Let me add, I think I got a pretty good deal on mine and it could have sold for $50 to $100 more.

I have NEVER looked to the 'Bible' for prices. Prices for S&W's seem to be to a greater extent a regional thing.

Local shop has one in very good to excellent condition no box papers etc
and is asking 575.00 tax included. It has been there for a few months
I think it is a little on the high side, but then again have you seen the price of a new 18?
Quality .22s are bringing a bit of a premium on there priceing lately, also probably due to cost of ammunition.
But back to your original question maybe 10-20% pending locality

I recently used the dated values just to see the approximate price difference between what I wanted to trade and what the seller had priced his gun for trade. It told me that I probably should ask for some cash as well and it worked for me on this trade. Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes he eats you.
