Well, I guess I have a "last gun of the year". Went into a new-to-me pawn shop today, and came out with an F.E.G., not a Hi-Power clone, unfortunately, but maybe a Model 59 clone. Mod. GKK-92C. It's cheap, it's heavy, it looks pretty good in a big-lumpish sort of way, and my wife likes the way it feels in her hand.
No pics, but here's a stock photo that's pretty close:
I guess I'll have to take it to the range on Friday to see what I've got. Maybe I can persuade her to come along.
Does anyone have any idea what I can expect?

For me it has to be these two Model 59s, scored at the San Antonio Gun Show in November. I bought them within 15 minutes of each other, from separate tables.

My last gun of the year was a Browning Buckmark. Great semi-auto.
After about 1000 rounds it still hasn't missed fired or jammed.

For me it will be 'the first gun of the year' since I am stuck in commie Europe until mid January. Other than that it was an BAR Safari Mk2 in 300WM and a Winchester 70 in .270 sometime last summer.

.44 Hand Ejector Fourth Model-1950 Target
I just squeaked in under the wire with this one. I picked it up yesterday, from a Tuesday evening auction. I couldn't be happier with it. It has been fired, and has a few storage dings & scratches, but it is nice. The finish is S&W's bright blue.

I couldn't resist the allure of this M 77 RSI 308, shipped in 1984. Bought yesterday.

I got this Colt 1903 .32 Hammerless a couple weeks ago..
But I guess this one is the last, bought it Friday off GB, but it won't be here until next year. Another Colt, 7 1/2" .22 Peacemaker Buntline.
The seller's pics aren't very good, but I think there is a nice gun there! I have correct factory OE grips, those faux ivories I'll have to fit, they come oversize, and that hasn't been done yet.

I hope this is the last one for this year!
Today a 19-3 $450 out the door, over the curb, buring gas.

38/44 Outdoorsman 6.5" From 1940
Obviously the stocks aren't real! They're Herrett's Shooting Stars. I bought the gun with only the left panel of the originals. I'm looking to buy the right half.
It is a Happy New Year!

I thought it was going to be a 19-3, 2.5 inch that arrived Christmas week. I wrapped it up with a tag to me from the wife. She was a little confused.
But then three days ago I scored a M-58, haven't got it yet. It was a good year for S&Ws; two 57s, two 10s, a 28, a 19, and the 58.

I lied . . . one more new "last gun" of the year"
Yep, I lied. Thought that both of us had bought all the guns we needed in 2011, but turned out I was wrong one more time.
The new baby is a S&W 4563TSW. We found one that appears to be in extremely nice condition, and IMHO the 3 rules of buying a used gun are condition, condition, condition.
Like our other guns, this one has a purpose in life - to serve as the primary travel gun on our RV trips that include excursions into Canada. The Canadians have a thing about short-barreled handguns so anything with a barrel less than 105mm is prohibited (4.13") which rules out the best [single-stack] CCW guns. The Commander length 1911 was the obvious exception, hence my Dan Wesson CCO.
As nice as the Dan Wesson CCO is - and it is VERY nice - I'm one of those conservative types that doesn't like the idea of a 3.7# SA trigger in a defensive gun. I much prefer a good DA/SA, true DAO or at least a long striker trigger on my defensive pistols.
But, after the wife bought her S&W 3913LS I quickly figured out that (a) the 3rd generation S&Ws are great pistols, and (b) they actually have one with a 4.25" barrel.
There aren't a lot of those on the market though, and some are pretty rough looking. And only a few folks seem to make holsters for that particular model. But, then I only needed to find one sharp gun and one good holster maker. And we did. With only 7 hours and 37 minutes remaining in 2011.
Now that it's on its way, it's time to sell the nearly new Dan Wesson; it only has 140 rounds through it.

I've got the high power clone all steel from FEG and it shoots and operates fine. No problems whatsoever, all steel. A good shooter.

Since 2011 is now behind us I can reveal that my last gun was bought on Christmas Eve, a 1894 Marlin Cowboy Limited, with a 24" tapered octagon barrel in 357 magnum / 38 special in 95% condition.
I might add that in my many years this is my first time shooting or owning a lever gun as I had no interest at the time for a lever.
Looking forward to the coming months of reloading for it.

Got a real good deal on this 4" 617 (no dash) at a gun show about a month ago. Come to think of it, all of my 2011 S&W purchases have been K-22s.
Still haven't had the time to shoot it. That would have to wait until i get some far more comfortable Ahrends to replace the Combats (sorry, the Combats aren't for sale..they're staying with this 617).

I ordered an Anschutz 1416D heavy barrel 22LR and picked it up Friday from my FFL. I am putting a Weaver T36 scope on it and will shooting it at 100 yards off the bench. I have not had a chance to make pictures yet but will soon. Don

Model 19-5 ... not sure of the date but I read that it's a 5 or 6 year range in the early '80s.

Thanks - but no I'm not - I just enjoy photography - taking good and interesting photos of guns is a fun challenge - and now that I'm retired, I have the time to do it.

My Last Gun of 2011 is this M64-5 purchased in November and dubbed "Pocket Change".
It is a Ohio DOC trade-In I got at Vance's for $279. When it became available, I was low on fun money and remembered the big coin jar I had been filling for several years. When I finished rolling coins, I had almost $300!

I thought the 629 3" TALO was my last gun for 2011 but went to a gunshow on Christmas Eve, just to look around, and found a 629 3" Mountain Backpacker.

44 MAGNUM
Does anybody else like fingerless grips? Cordia Ahrends.
I took a chance and love them. My pinky grabs the edge perfectly like a rudder.
LOL!

Bought a nice Ruger single six, and S&W 15-2 from my brother around Christmas. Right after Christmas, I picked up a lightly used Ruger Mark II target pistol.
Bought a S&W 28-2 on Gunbroker, but it won't be here until Thursday.

United Sporting Arms - Seville
I picked this one up about 3:45pm on New Year's Eve. It's a nice revolver. Manufactured as a "Qwik Kit". This one is chambered for .45 Colt. It has a 4 3/4" barrel...the throats are all a consistent .451 The trigger breaks clean at a constant 2 pounds 13 ounces.
I have not shot it yet....hope to try it out tomorrow afternoon.

Last three of the year
Here's the last of the year for me. They all arrived at my safe around the same time so I figure I would count them all.
An earlier Model 37 with the flat latch in great shape with matching grips.
A RSR 6451, more rare (around 150 total) than I thought when I purchased it.
A long tubed Model 17 no dash (also very, very scarce).
I think I finished strong. Did some selling and saving in December to have some cash for the big winter antique arms show in Vegas. Can't wait to see what I will find for my first gun of 2012.

My last gun of the year served two purposes. I have always wanted a Ruger #1 due to their attractive styling and long history. Secondly, I have always wanted to play with a belted magnum. So here is my 1975 vintage Ruger #1 in .375 H&H.

I bought these about a week apart in November. Both of them were on my "must have" list for too long. I am glad I was able to check them off!
