BIG MISTAKE!
Made a huge mistake. My lovely bride of 15 months and I retired about two years ago. We have been very successful in making the transition from productive hurry scurry company employees and parents to laid back ne'er-do-well grandparents. About a year and a half ago my economist daughter introduced my wife to a computer game on FaceBook called Farm Town. Daughter thinks it is a very good way to understand economic concepts. I wouldn't know. To say my wife embraced the game wholeheartedly would be an understatement. She started out with one "farm" and now controls more cyber acreage than the King Ranch. Her computer case is the first bag into the car when we travel and the first bag out when we get home. If perchance we have not done our homework and we end up somewhere with no wifi you can bet we are going to have at least one meal at McDonald's to take advantage of theirs. I first thought it was a healthy relaxing use of her time, but soon our lives were being scheduled around milking her cows and crop rotations. Once a field of rhubarb was allowed to go fallow. I thought someone had died by gloomly look on her face.
I took to chiding her about the amount of time she was on the computer. I started calling her Toshiba because that was all I saw when I looked her way. I even printed her picture and taped it to the lid of her computer so I could see her face when I talked to her.
I finally had enough and decided it was time to do something. I opened the conversation with, "I want to talk to you about all of the time you are wasting playing that stupid Farm Town." She looked up over the top of the computer, closed the lid, calmly took off her glasses, folded her hands and said, "OK, Mr. Smith and Wesson, let's talk."
"Eh....er...how many farms do you have now honey?"

I am safe from all computer games.
They bore me.
I decided long ago that I'd rather read a book.

Just read this to my honey. I get to spend more time on the forum if she gets some laughs out of it! "Just looking for jokes, sweetie!"

You're not alone. Many people that I know have had their other half taken over by this farm game. It has been a real problem.
Almost all of the known cases have went away on their own as they tired of the game, but it certainly was a problem.
Hopefully it will pass for you. Good luck Mr Smith and Wesson.

My response would have been, "Yes dear, but my S&Ws are worth considerably more than your cyber real estate."

At least she called you Mister Smith & Wesson, which may or may not be a good thing.
In our family when my Aunt used my Uncle's full name, Leonard, instead of Lee, or my Grandmother used my Grandfather's middle name, Bryan, instead of Bill, we all knew to shut up and step aside.
So did my Uncle & Grandfather.

She still plays that old game? I thought everyone switched over to Battle Pirates.

Smith357, he said he's only been married for 15 months, which, for me, was still in the talkin' stage.
After 35 years I won't even mention what stage I'm in.
At this point I at least know what to, and not to do, to keep me out of the doghouse. Usually.
One thing I learned to be true over the years, Silence is indeed Golden.

Iggy I was married 25 years the first time. Yeah I know, you woulda thunk I would have learned somethin. Now this one is a keeper. She lets me know right off when I'm fixin to mess up. Kind of like bumpers on a pinball machine, keeps me more or less on the right path.

Wow!! And you have only been on the forum for less than a year!! You might make it to Captain Smith and Wesson eventually!!! My wife refers to me as General Smith and Wesson for all the time I have spent here .

LazyKB, I showed this tread to my wife and she wants to know if your wife needs any new neighbors? I think we're in the same boat and it's sinking

I love it. Now for the other side of the coin. My wife bought me a really nice laptop Christmas 2010. I don't think she knew what kind of monster she let loose. Now I can be just about any where and still surf my favorite gun discussion boards. I couldn't see any attraction to farmville, I learned how to go broke with a real farm.

So, did you need any ketchup to go with that crow you're having?
You may need to see a doctor. The filter that's supposed to be between the brain and the mouth is apparently not working all the time.

I have the same problem with the wife, from the time she gets out of bed until she goes to bed at night, that is if she goes to bed, she is on facebook playing. Sometimes its not so bad, that way she never questions me when I'm on my laptop or when I bring some new toys home with me. After 30+ years together, I let her play.

Mrs. Pawncop in a Farmtown (or Farmville) aholic. It is much as you say, her world revolves around her crops and help us all if the internet goes down.
I have no problem as it does keep her busy, and that is a good thing.
