lead bullets. Read a comment on here the other day that mentions "some" Glocks wouldn't shoot lead bullets w/o leading up quickly.

I just bought 1000 155gr from Missouri Bullet Company. Can I load then down enough just to cycle the gun and be alright?

No, You will get both side of the story of those that shoot lead in stock Glock barrels and those that say no.

Polygonal rifling does not like lead. Sure you can shoot some out of it but it is not recommended. Hard or soft lead doesn't matter. There is still the wax lube on the bullets.

Most Glockers who shoot lead buy a after market barrel like Lone Wolf for $100 with standard rifling.

155 gr? Please tell me it's not 40 SW SWC.

I had a Glop in 40 and shot cast very light loads in it with no issues.

I'm very anal about keeping all my guns very clean so I'm sure that helped. I know people a lot smarter than I'am say it is a bad idea so it probably is. The after market barrel is probably a very good idea.

Yeah, why? I just wanted something for my son to shoot reationary targets with and know that he hit them. The 40 is totatally new to me and I suppose it has already shown. So go easy on me.

Please don't shoot lead in a Glock. I have had a 23 kaboom on me, split the breech, blew the mag out of the gun and scared me to death. Only God's mercy and a tough gun kept me from serious injury.

I dont see why not. I have shot a bunch of 155 cast swc's over 5.0gr of HP38 through my Sig 229 with no problem at all.

I shoot a lot of lead through all my Sigs but they have conventional rifling and a fully supported chamber so it's not a Glock. Two different animals entirely.

Back to the 40 SW in Glock and I have nothing against them. The 40 SW is the prime Glock for Kabooms due mainly to a non fully supported chamber and the brass tends to bulge at the base (short answer). And velocity is not the only factor in leading, it's more how the bullet is sized in relation to the barrel.

A LSWC has to be seated just right to chamber correctly or it will jam. They are enough of a pain in the 1911.

So, JMO I think you are setting your self up for problems.

To me, it is not worth the risk, buy some plated or FMJ RN and you will be safe and happy,

If you don't want to buy another barrel or don't want the bullets, Brad at MBC is very easy to deal with and I am sure he would refund you $$ if you mail them back.

I buy a lot of bullets from them and they are a top notch company.

I shoot my cast bullets in my Glocks all the time. 9 and 45. I don't have a .40. I love that polygonal rifling. I wish I had it in in all my other handguns

thanks, now I'm an informed glock reloader. I've reloaded several thousand 165 fmj's with no problems or misfires. Guess I should have asked before buying the lead.

Well here is the flip side of the story. Jessie who has forgotten more than I will ever know about lead cast's his own bullets and has a company, Tennessee Valley Bullets.

So flip a coin, I still would not do it on a regular basis but buy an after market barrel and you wouldn't have a worry.

I bought Storm Lake conventionally rifled barrels for my Glock 19 and Glock 22, so it's not an issue for me.

I don't know why polygonal-rifled barrels get the blame, it's a Glock Chamber problem, not a barrel issue. I have an EAA Witness Match in 45ACP with polygonal rifling, and it's digested thousands of cast bullets without any grief at all.

Must be a chamber issue. I've shot cast through my CZ82 since I bought it 6 years ago with no issues.
