Yep... It is ugly. No doubt about it.
In my early adult years when I was broke as a joke and had no "collection" of firearms, my lever gun was both my hunting rifle and my home defense gun. Heck, it was my only gun for several years. I guess there could be a niche for such an ugly contraption. The adjustable stock may make it useful as a first deer rifle a young shooter can grow with, but it is just so darn ugly...

I would buy one. It is no more uglier than some of the AK, AR and such guns.
In fact, it sort of looks like it began life as a Glock handgun.

I'm sure my 45-70 Marlin Guide will stop most threats in spite of its lack of...tactical-ness.

No doubt designed for the brainless. I love the smooth lines, burled walnut stock and royal blue finish. It would make a great jack handle.

Butt ugly. OTOH, I'd be much more likely to drink the AR Kool-Aid if somebody made one in charcoal blue and walnut.

Yup, if it won't sell, paint it Black, add rails a collapsible stock, and call it "Tactical".

I'll bet 170 gr. flat point bullets won't be good enough for the mall ninjas that that buy a modern looking rifle like that. They will need critical defending, golden light saber, super doper expanding zombie killing bullets. Larry

This collapsible stock sturmgewehr tactical cowboy gun looks like something you might build from pieces and parts of guns you picked up here and there after the world comes to an end. But we ain't there yet so I think I'll pass.

I always wondered what ever happened to the guy who designed the Pontiac Aztek. Looks like he went to work for Mossberg.
Seriously, who in their right mind would approve the production of such a thing? Is Mossberg being run by monkeys on PCP?

Is there some California gun regulation this is supposed to circumvent?
I have to admit I was at one time holding out for a Winchester Trapper (16" bbl 38/357) in stainless with a synthetic stock. I thought this would be a great companion gun for my stainless "J" frames. Alas they went out of business.
I do have a 16" barreled stainless Taurus version of a Winchester pump in .22 WMRF that I mounted a small rail on the underside of the pump grip for a Surefire rifle light. It's the ticket for those pitch black middle of the night verminations.

It's been done and it's actually quite handsome. It really only looks good on the older 16s and A1s (or their civilian counterparts):

Hey! Cut Mossberg a little slack - at least in the second photo, the default option for the first drop-down was
"Choose Another Model . . . ."

As long as I can remember (and even before, based on old catalogs and magazines) Mossberg has consistently come up with rifles and shotguns that gave good value for the money, but they were always a little off in the aesthetics. For the most part that is; this new iteration takes the proverbial cake. I cannot imagine that beauty slipping by any departments at Mossberg!

Why do I think that purchasers of these tactical .30-30s will inevitably equip them with very high magnification, cheap scopes?

The Mossberg looks like something Artemus would've built for West on the Wild Wild West TV show!
1880's technology meets 21 century ugly.
Could also be the LEGO lever action.

Where's the bayonet lug? You know it has to be there for the Super Tacticool Mall Ninja types. And I bet you could hang at least 10 pounds of assorted junk off of it too. The Chinese knock off scope, and the rest of the airsoft accessories as well.

Load up the ripe tomatos and spoiled eggs.
it aint pretty but it is very functional and a better choice than wood---if you are not keeping it in a glass case.
I have a 12 Guage that I keep for home defense. It shoots real good with the original parts.
I put on the collapseable stock with the shock absorber and the large pump handle---talk about good shooting and easy to get back on sight--quick.
I would not change out the new parts for anything.
Blessings

This is my punishment for pontificating.
In a discussion on the Ruger Scout Rifle recently, I said that the perfect scout rifle would be a Winchester '94 with a forward mounted scope.
On a more serious note. All the Mossy lever guns I've seen are built on the Marlin design.
The gun in pic appears to be a Winchester '94. Nice work on the add but I'm gonna call BS on this one.
