Default What's your daily driver?

So what do you drive to work everyday? I have this 01 Cherokee that has had its ups and downs but it gets decent mileage and its all I can afford at the moment. It has 170,000 miles, a 2 inch lift, a Cherry bomb extreme muffler and a Cobra 19 CB. I more or less use it as a pick up as the back seat spends most of the time folded down. To date it has hauled five deer from the woods to the butcher and with the back seat up my son in his car seat. It does get attention, especially during the summer when the folks from NYC and Jersey drive north.

By the way, that's part of my yard and the thing to the right of the jeep is my shooting bench (converted dresser).

I drive a 94 Cherokee, 217,000 miles to date, I can't tear it up! I'm much like you, my back seat is usually down for more space as I mainley use it for my work vehicle.

I always wanted one of those Cherokees. I like your setup. A guy a couple houses down had one. I was priming him for buying the thing. He got drunk one night and invited a couple sweeties from Gary home with him and they stole it.

I urn for the days when I got the urge for a new vehicle, I'd buy an electric spray gun and put a different color Rustolium primer on my then current truck.

Oh yeah, what is this "work" you speak of?

I drive a 2005 Chevy Impala, but I'm giving it to my oldest son in a few months. It's in mint condition with about 70,000 miles. Should be a good car for him to take to college. I offered to get him something sportier, but he likes the Impala. It's got the spoiler, etc., so it really looks pretty nice. I bought it new, so my son knows that it's been taken care of. The Impala replaces the 1985 El Camino that he's had for the past few years. I'm not sure what we're gonna do with it.

I bought a new, base model 2012 Mazda 6 to replace the Impala. I only spent $17,800 with new alloy wheels. It's a 6 speed manual. It's one of the last Mazdas to be made in Michigan from what I understand.

My toy is my 2010 Dodge Challenger. It's a garage queen.

Keep it as a beater work vehicle, assuming you ever do anything requiring a pickup bed. Insurance and tags can't be that much.

Flat Rock, Michigan,,the Ford Mustang assembly line is where your Mazda 6 was assembled.
I own a 2010 Mazda 6 GTi that was made there also. Only 98,000 miles on it now.
Not a rattle, perfect shape, and it will last me a lifetime.

1997 Ram. 236,000 miles.
In the summer it's a 1987 VW Jetta GLI. 278,000 miles. Both are in perfect working order. (the Jetta won best non-restored original at Waterfest last year. I take really nice care of my stuff)

'96 Chevy S-10 with a 5.7 Vortec , 600 Holley, Edelbrock Performer intake, mild cam, conversion headers into two Flowmaster 40's running 3.73 gears. Trans is a Turbo 350 with a B&M Stage II shift kit and B&M 3000 stall converter.
Thing is quick as heck but I don't take it on the freeway much because of the gears and no over drive I have to tach it at around 3K rpm to do 70mph which I don't like to do for long. Can't wait to get a limited slip put in the rear end so it'll hook better, one wheel peel has got to go.

Nothing romantic or exotic here. We mostly drive the wifes 2001 silverado around town. Started to sell it once but didnt as people here want it for nothing as it isnt 4wd. It has only about 94K. I have a 2000 gmc sierra stepside that I keep a quad and trailer hooked up for boondocking. That has 125,000 miles. For road trips only, we have a 2007 toyota avalon with only about 45,000 miles that we bought new.

2005 Mercury Mountaineer - 114,000+ great vehicle. Too bad Ford decided to end the line but it is understood why they did what they did.

Had this ol' '90 Cherokee for about 20 years now. ~240k and she's been a good one.
The poorly-done Chrysler paint job was eventually covered with a cheap Maaco paint job, and then another.
Latest covering is O.D.-color Raptor bedliner.

Driving a Cherokee as well, a 1995 Country with 229K. Dead deer are frequent passengers in the back. The most serious repair was an alternator. XJs are anvils!

1998 Chevy Astro van, 198k. I bought it to haul dirt bikes, and it does a lot of trailer pulling. There's a middle-aged BMW sedan out there with 275k miles, but I haven't driven it in a long time. It'd make a fun project for some kid, if kids did that stuff any more. When the weather is decent, I commute by motorbike.

2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4x4...the odometer just went over 100K. It's in really great shape, doesn't get the best mileage (avg 15 mpg) but very comfortable, and it has one option I can't find on any new model: it's paid for.

I also have a 1990 Jeep Cherokee with 40K miles, and it is in like new condition. It was my mother's car, but I don't drive it...I keep it for a spare.

'90 Ranger w/4 cyl and 120k. No AC, barely any heat, a tweaked frame, and sun faded paint. I've had it for about 4 years and only replaced the power steering unit and oil. I have never washed it either. Aside from fuel and insurance I have less than a grand into it. Keeps the miles , dirt and wear off my '99 F150 and gets better mpg.

I have three vehicles I consider my daily drivers.

In the 4X4 Pickup department I have a '09 Toyota Tundra that I use for hunting, fishing, & towing. I believe it has around 20,500 miles on the clock.

For Sunday go to meetin and vacationing I have '08 Caddy STS which right at 30,000 miles.

Last but not least I have my beater which seems to get driven the most. It a '91 GMC Sonoma with over 300,000 miles on the clock. I drive this junker everywhere and don't worry about scratches, dents, dings, the paint or anything else. I had her since she was new and just put a set of new shoes on her for the winter.

A 2006 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor with 84280 HARD miles on it......I love it....we are lucky enough to have a "take home" fleet....my baby is #S-111.

My personal vehicle is a 2004 Toyota Tacoma with 73000 miles. Bought it brand new and it has been one of the most reliable vehicles I have ever owned.

2000 Tundra 4x4.

I would have traded for a new one but they don't have a good center fold down with built in water and food bowls for Pugsters.

4506517, just a random wet blanket thought: Years back I worked with a retired indianapolis homicde lt. He bitched that back there the dept did the same as many departments do now: Take the cruiser home. He claimed they do it to screw retiree`s out of pention. Said that indirectly the "privilage" took place of part of wages they would be getting if they didnt have the priviledge. Of course his pension was based on what the current guys wages are. Just something to think about!
edit: this was way back, I think he retired in 1963.

My daily driver is a 2003 Buick LeSabre with 152,000 on the clock. It averages about 700 miles a week. I hope it runs another 150,000. That will get me to retirement, then I might treat myself to something a little nicer.

'07 Ranger 4by with about 75,000 on it. It's a nice confortable rig, and a fairly good 4 wheeler.

1996 Mazda MX-5 Miata.
Creeping up on 80k miles. I drove it every day to work and back since it was new in July of '96.
I hate long commutes.

2007 Dodge Ram w/Hemi. If gas keeps going up I'm gonna have to get one of those cars you wear down the road.

I had a buddy that had one like that right down to the same color. Dad had a 55 pontiac chiefton bright yellow and black. I had a 56 chev 210 coupe. Those cars a big person could get in and sit comfortable, not like the cars now to where I feel like I been in a wrestling match just to get in and out of!

2006 Jetta TDI, 16 miles to work 1 way every day for about 84,500 miles so far, a couple of minor bugs worked out early, but it's a keeper since it gets about 43 mpg the way I drive it.

Otherwise, my grownup up pick up for my 6'5" frame, a 2010 Ram 1500 Club Cab, it's a goer...

1998 Toyota Corolla in the feminine green/teal exterior. She is at 149k and runs a lot better than she looks. My kids are embarrassed to be seen in it but they know my standing offer, "You are welcome to walk if you like." I commute about 40 miles a day and it does the job.
