Default Revolver Not Shooting To POA?

Just bought one of these old Taurus 82 LEO imports and shot it for the first time yesterday.

Single action is as good as any Smith I've ever shot, double action was smooth, but rather short.

Even when firing it single action it grouped high/right by about 3"-4" at 25 yds.

So, I shot it at 15yds with the same results.

Fixed front blade (original, not modified), notched frame rear.

Apart from the nut behind the grip, what would cause a pistol to shoot like that?

1. Use "Kentucky Windage".
2. Check for barrel cant
3. test with a lighter bullet
4. test from a sand bag rest.

Another member posted that these guns were regulated for 125 gr ammo, not 158 like a real S&W.

Try some 125 and 125 +P and see if it does better.

Yep, that was me.

All 4 of mine shot low/left with 158s.

They seem to like the 125s....

Looks like you paid the extra $10 for the "hand select" units.

Mine aren't nearly as pretty.

picked mine up at a random table at a gunshow last weekend

It appears to be a "hand select" model because I did a Van's cold blue job on it.

Also, the double action is kind of strange.

The hammer comes back smoothly, but instead of pulling to a full back/cock position, it stops, breaks, and falls at about half way back.

Same with mine....

Takes a little getting used to, if you're used to a K-frame.

Some of these can give a light primer strike as a result.

Mine haven't, but I read about others that do.

First try a lighter weight bullet... that just might fix it.

Don't feel too bad............the last Taurus I had was several feet low and left at 25 yards. When I called Taurus about getting it fixed they didn't seem to feel it was a "defect". I unloaded it the next day.
