Fine pistols. Although there are several different models, I really like the Match version. SA trigger which closely rivals a good 1911.

I know several guys that use them in competition and have no problems.

They are good guns and solidly built. They also feel good in the hand, or at least in my hand.

I just bought another Witness pistol..............my fourth, this one a 10mm. You didn't specify which gun you're interested in, but if it's Witness Match 45, I'd say go for it.

My Witness Match 45 is a bit of an oddity...........it was the first one ever imported into the US, for the then-American Sales Manager for Tanfoglio. It was sent around to all the US gun magazines, so it had to be cosmetically perfect, and it is. Mine has the original polygonally-rifled barrel, but I don't know what configuration the current barrels are offered in. Mine shoots lead and jacketed bullets into tiny little groups. I've had a 40S&W Witness for 20+ years, and it has digested well over 40,000 rounds of handloaded ammo, none of them mild. For a couple years it was my primary Pin Gun, shooting 200-grain bullets at velocities that a 45ACP gun would be hard-pressed to match.

Since I'm fond of eye candy, here's a peek at some of my little Witness family..........the 10mm is so new I don't have photos of it yet

Yet just another CZ copy. Why by a EAA when you can buy the real CZ?

Seriously though, they are great guns. And generally cost less than CZ.

Nothing wrong with CZ mind you. At one time I owned both.

I've had a couple, they're nice guns. The "internal rail" system is supposed to be a good feature. The abbreviated cocking serrations because of the design make it hard for my arthritic hands to grip.

There is nothing "wrong" with them but they are still just "clones" Taurus clones of SW are cheaper also.

The only advantage to EAA over CZ is their Advertising Models

My father-in-law has one in 45acp, and it does feel good in the hand. Hasn't had any malfunction issues with it. Find it throws the brass out at about the 2 o'clock position. If you decide to get one and have any inclination to have the .22 caliber conversion kit, get it as the package & not separate. My father-in-law got them separate and has had to make some "adjustments" for fit issues. Have heard if you try to send it to EAA it can take a considerable amount of time for them to do it.

Great guns...I have three of them and 4 actual CZ's. The ergonomics are fabulous in all regards.

You got a point about the models. But lately I've been oogling CZ rifles. Course that's another discussion.

I've had a .45 Witness since 1996. It shoots whatever I feed it and is plenty accurate. I mostly load a 200 gr. homecast bullet over a good charge of Win. 231. It's a great gun! I also have a two tone 9 mm Witness.

their all over the place quality wise from what I understand atleast with the standard models as the guys over at the bren ten forums have told me that they've had a few where the slide has broken on them a few times.

Not sure what exactly the circumstances are behind that but the one solid one I've heard about is the EAA witness match that one of the bren ten members is using as a substitute for his bren ten now and he hasnt reported any problems with it whatsoever.


Personally though if I had a choice between an EAA witness match in .40 and the CZ 75 it would be the 75.

although for some damn reason CZ wont come out with a proper 5 inch barreled model of the normal 75 in .40 or 10mm which is key to matching the look of the bren ten for me, and I'm kinda hoping they change that one of these days.

I've carried one in 38 Super for years, like it a lot.

I bough a Czechoslovakian made CZ-75 a few months back and put a low profile adjustable LPA sight on it. Wow, it is one great shooting combat gun. Sold my Beretta 92F as it just couldn't compare.

I've looked at the EAA Witness 45's. Nice, well fitted guns.

I love my CZ85! Ungodly accurate!!! I would like to add a Rami 9 to my CZ collection. Both CZ and Witness are great guns. My only problem with them is that they all seem to have a slightly different feel to the trigger pull. Some are very easy and smooth, others feel like your finger wrestling the trigger. I dont have this problem with striker fired guns so I assume it has to do with how good the parts were machined/smoothed out.

EAA is only the Importer here in the Gunshine State.

Tanfoglio is the Italian manufacturer

Check the history of CZ/Bruno (not CZ USA) and how long they have be making firearms (many) and how many of them are in use by military and LE around the World.

That being said, there is nothing wrong with with Tanfoglio they are fine. Just saying

EAA is an importer, and I wish they were still importing the IZH Mod 35M .22 RF match pistols, and the Mod 46M .177 Air Pistols. These are both Russian origin, and match quality without the price. The 35M is the design used by the Russians to win several Gold medals in Olympics. They are now being sought after.

I saw the Zastava made guns distributed by EAA-(Sig clones) reviewed in a major gun mag a couple years ago-it was a 45, but I believe other cals were available, anyway, the guy raved about it, called it the most accurate out of the box pistol he had ever fired.

What others have said re: reliability, feel and accuracy. I'd only add that the are all steel and heavy. They are now made on a larger frame (I guess to handle the 10mm) and it is a handful. The "Wonder" finish is extremely durable. I have one in the safe (a 40) and like it very much. But if the mission calls for a carry solution, I'll pick a different piece due to the weight. Out West

The EAA guns usually have a bit more 'bling' than their CZ family.

Of course, they are Italian. They always have more of a flair for design.
