Default I am positioned to address one of the unanswerable questions

Ever since Adam and Eve, thinking people have struggled
valiantly to answer those seemingly unanswerable questions that lie
at the very core of our existence as human beings.

For example:

Ford or Chevy?
Tastes Great or Less Filling?
Who put the "Ram" in the "Ram a lam a ding dong"?
Blue vs. Nickle?
Remington 870 v. Mossberg 500?
Winchester Model 12 v. Remington Model 31 v. Ithaca Model 37?
What would Ruth have done against Koufax?
Humpback v. Centennial?
O/U v. SxS?
Magna or Target?

These, and many other questions of similar importance, have
stymied the members of this Forum, as well as other
Philosophers of lesser character and intelligence, for decades.

Now, however, I am priviliged to report that I have deftly positioned
myself to be able to provide direct observational evidence of a
relatively recent question that has joined the ranks of the
great mysteries:

Pre-64 Featherweight in .243 Win. or Kimber 84M in .257 Roberts?

Those who were not aware of this difficult question
and the nuances associated with the competing positions
can thank me for bringing this pressing issue to your attention.

Comparative Range Reports to follow as soon as possible.

(P.S. There is a Cooper 54 in .243 Win. on Gunbroker which would allow a direct comparison with the already requisitioned Pre-64, with the potential confounding factors caused by different chamberings scientifically controlled. This scientist, however, would require research funds in terms of a Stimulus Grant if this second project is to get off the ground.)

The Kimber is a fine weapon, but I have to agree with Moon.

Unless you have tried both, your answer is obviously hasty, and some would describe it as bordering on impertinent.

Ruth couldn't have touched Koufax. He wouldn't have gotten close enough to the plate.

I was just shooting my 1949 .30 Gov't 06 Winchester Model 70 today. 220 grainers spitting out at a clocked 2450fps. They told the truth on the box of ammo! Must have been old ammo... Military ball(Greek) was making 2800fps, and Federal 180's were budging 2650fps. The .510 Linebaugh was launching 400's at 1180fps from a 4 5/8ths PacNor tube. Not too painful to shoot either. My shooting pard built it from a stainless Blackhawk. The 1961 "S' prefix four screw 29 was OUTSTANDING with 180's and completely handy with 240 grain fodder. I hope everyone had as good of a holiday as I did today!!! Oh, in answer to one of your first questions, definitely the Winchester!! JMO

Since some bottles of ginger ale say they are made with real ginger, what is made with real Mary Ann?

With Adam and Eve I think that last conversation before the apple started like this:

Eve-"Well that's great, you never take me anywhere, you know how many times I have had to look at the same tree, the same grass, and other than you the only one to talk to is that snake. Well, at least he gave me something to eat. Here shut up and eat this!"

Blonde, or brunette?

I always like Winchesters, but I'm sure the argument can be made that the Kimber is better. Same for a nice Sako, or classic Weatherby. But, I still like the Winchester...

What he said. Classic rifle in a classic caliber. I bet that wood would refinish beautifully in a lighter shade.

I'm very disappointed. I thought you were going to disclose where I left my car keys...

How about the best of both worlds? A pre 64 Winchester in .257 Roberts.

I loved the .243. Pop was a fan of the .257 Roberts. We reloaded for both. Sometimes I beat him.Sometimes he beat me. BUT......pre 64? Hard to resist that one.

My local pusher has a pre-64 Model 70, chambered in .375 H&H. It can be yours for only $2,295. Now, that's a rifle!

I had a Kimber, my choice would be the Winchester. My favorite 257 is my FN.

bushmaster1313, no offense, but couldn't you have found a buxom brunette to hold that pre-64 for the photo? A wood pile?! Sheesh! LOL!

Two items

One question from me -

Charcoal or gas? Charcoal here.

An answer for pete99004

White wine with potato chips.

Red wine with curly fries.

And finally NO beans in the chili.

Oh yeah - I prefer the .243, either one is fine but I would pick the .243.

Nuff said.

I know that FN has announced a .257 Model 70 Featherweight.
I have never heard of a Pre-64 .257 Model 70 Featherweight.

From all that I have read, the FN Model 70 is an excellent, if not a superior firearm to the Kimber. However, something about the Kimber 84M rang my bell. I think it is the understated simplicity of the styling. Also, I find the grain in the Kimber wood and the oil finish to be very appealing.

The unanswerable question, is the one every man dreads. Does this outfit make my butt look big? There is no good answer to that one, or at least I can't post it here

Happy Fat Tuesday all.
