Default What's your current project?

I'm working on a Russian Capture K98 right now and I've only drawn blood once.

A 1937 J.P. Sauer mixmaster. The numbers on the barrel and receiver match, that's about it. Has a bore like a mirror. Came with an incorrect laminate stock so I lucked out on a walnut, Sauer stock from the same period. It's beat up all to heck but 3 coats of Boiled Linseed Oil helped it out. It's really a nice piece of walnut too with deep waffenmarks.

A few purists at another site think an RC 98 should only be in the red Russian shellac slop job stocks but this sure turned out pretty.

What y'all working on? Show it off.

NOT a gun but gun RELATED....Was gifted an old Dillon RL1050 that hasn't been used in 25+ years and was in three or four "Sub-assemblies" as well as missing quite a few small parts.

Been cleaning and fiddling with it off and on for a week.

Today a big box came from Dillon NOW I'm close to getting it going again...spitting out 9mm's.

My current project is installing a depth finder on the boat and trying to put back together my 1911 after I detail stripped it. Is it supposed to be that hard to slide the mainspring housing in that last little bit in order to slip the pin in?????

'97 ATK 610 Enduro that has been sitting for several years. Going to get it running and spruced up for trail riding and use it to get to some of the really out of the way clam flats to catch poachers.

I also have to replace my garage doors. Bought the doors and hardware last fall, still working up to actually tearing into the job. When I opened up one of the boxes of hardware and parts and saw all those things I didn't recognize my enthusiasm waned a bit.

Oh, I have a gun project, too. This is a Para Ordnance GI Expert in .460 Rowland. I bought the Clark's Custom kit and sent the gun and kit down to Clark's so they could fit the barrel (too snug to "drop in"). Now I'm going to replace the MIM parts with quality forged and I want to try EGW's Ignition Kit in it since the factory trigger pull sucks.

Ruger Mark 1, 1961 model. Brother-in-law gave me couple weeks ago out of his toolbox. Mechanically ok, lots of surface rust, dirt dobber nest within barrel. Have got to shiny metal, going to try cold blue. Barrel looks to be ok, shiney, but can't tell if pitted, seems to have a ribbed rifling. Anyway, will put back together and see what it does.

I am building a long range gun, at least I hope it works. I have a 1954 FN Mauser action mated to a 308 Norma Mag barrel. Once I get it set in the stock I will load up some ammo and see how she shoots. Still need to do some final sanding on the stock, change the trigger and bed the action.

I am alos putting my 1988 Honda Hurricane 1000 back together to get ready for the riding season.

My most important project is an on-line Masters program which eats up a lot of time from the fun projects.

I just today dropped off my new "project" gun and various parts at the gunsmith, for modification. Base gun is a Ruger MK III Hunter with the 6.75" fluted barrel. Mods will include threading the barrel to accept a suppressor, removing the front and rear sights, drifting a Burris FastFire II red-dot base into the rear sight dovetail, filling the front sight mount hole with a flush stainless screw, and installing a Novak stainless light mount rail on the bottom of the barrel. This promises to become my general purpose camp skunk and snake gun, equipped with a Streamlight weapon light mounted on the Novak rail, the Burris red dot and an AWC suppressor. (The AZ legislature is likely, this session, to override the existing prohibition on suppressors for hunting.) I expect it will see a fair measure of plinking use, as well...

I'm working on longer naps. There has to be an ideal

It's a very simple equation. Take the average lap time of the current NASCAR race for that week. Multiply by the number of laps in the race. Then take the average lap time and multiply by 40 . Subtract this time from time of the entire race and you have the ideal nap time. This way you watch 20 laps to start the race, nap, wake up and watch the last 20 laps.

I'm currently working on a Mosin Nagant 91/30. I have it completely disassembled. Amazing how many little crevices cosmoline can work it's way into. Thinking about acquiring a second stock and trying a little woodwork to sporterize it. I know, why do that? Because I can.

I'm restoring a Marlin 1894 model 25-20 a friend gave me before he passed last year. It's a real dog. Found in a abanded lumber camp in upper Wisconsin so the story goes. It's pitted outside & the barrel has never been cleaned. Supposed to be their camp meat gun found under a mattress. Octagon barrel that won't take a cold bluel Maybe stainless??But after cleaning the bore with all the things I have in the shop [2 weeks]I can see rifling. Old dog shoots pretty good groups at 50 yards with my handloads Tough getting cases & bullets but it's keepsake from an old buddy. It's just a project to keep this old guy out of the bars.

I've got three that have been marinating, one a Star auto in 9mm Largo, one an antique top break in .45 of some sort, and one my dads first gun, a Polish Radom in 9mm that looks like it spent a year at the bottom of the Pacific. I'm taking my time with them.

Nice RC 98. I like the walnut too.

I just sold my Mod 98 that was believed to be a ex- Croatian legion gun. I used the money to buy a 80' vintage model 60 with box and paperwork, including the cleaning rod.
This is my 3rd S&W revolver in a month.
I am working on getting my 68' 28-2 re-blued and finding standard magna grips. It does not need blueing, but I have always wanted a bright finish revolver and the lines of a 4" 28-2 are only beaten by the 27 IMHO.

Researching a re-loading station too. Buying .38 Special and .357 Magnum is getting old quick!

Other than replacing my roof... The only gun project I've got going on is Forum member Belt_Fed cutting down my Savage MKII barrel to 16 inches and threaded for a can. That's going to be fun to shoot... "click"

I made a list of the pending gun projects.
Now I'm going to go take a nap. I'm exhausted.

Long term project:
Firing pin issue on something I'd rather not admit is in my possession.

Short term project:
I've had a farm fresh chicken boiling all day. It's deboned and returned to the pot with some veggies, and the next phase is to make the carrot and parsley dumplings. Just taking a break right now.

This week I have off. Spring seems to be here early, so I will be putting some motorbikes on the road. I got the KLR up today; tomorrow will be the DR650. Then I will set about finding some spark for Shelly's DR350. Gotta order a chain and some sprockets for the KLR, and start mounting a few tires, but that can be spread out over a few weeks.

I'll want to get some riding in, too. There should be some snow-melt in the coulees this week, so the roads should be nice and slimy.
