Rimz Moonclips? Yes, No?
I just put a deposit on a really nice 25-2. It's too nice to be a regular shooter but still want to be able to.
I was thinking of getting some of the Rimz space age, hydrocarbon, polymer, plastic clips.
Do they work well for limited use?
I do not want to have to get a de mooning tool. and fight with metal clips. I can make the pvc pipe demooner but still have to load the clips.

They do make mooning tools too if you don't have the strength in your hands which makes it 98% easier.
I've got this one- and it makes it so simple... http://mooncliptool.com/
The steel clips will last the longest unless they are allowed to rust heavily.

I use the Rimz moonclips in my 1917s and love them. I have a few metal clips and a demooning tool, but the polymer clips are finger friendly both putting in and taking out, and they fit the cylinder just fine. I rarely use the demooner or metal clips.
I do use the metal clips on a couple of PC 627s, but it is easy to load and unload them with finger pressure only, so I'm not sure I feel the need for non-metallic clips in that case (and don't even knkow if Rimz manufactures 8-shot 627 moonclips).

Are the RIMZ as easy as indicated on their web site video? If so, they would be what I want.
If I was going to use this gun as a shooter I would go with the metal clips and tool.

I use mine for general range shooting all the time, I think they're great.
I don't have a moonclipped concealed carry piece, but if I did, I'd use steel moonclips in it that I had verified would work when carrying.

RIMZ are fine for bench work and they are just as easy as the web site shows them to be. For competition or social use, steel is the way to go.

I use them for target practice with my 625. They work fine and are easy to load and unload.

I bought some and they are great. But make sure you buy the right model for your gun. There are some made for older models and newer models. I never understand the tips about not using them for serious work. It's not as if you would take them to war, but they are plenty strong for carry. I loaded some dummy ammo and dropped them, tossed them, and then had to throw them hard against a block wall to get a single cartridge to fall out. I have been using mine for about a year now. They are cheap enough that really should buy more of them.

Rule 3: I purchased one package of RIMZs; a total of 5 moon clips as I recall. Frankly I didn't care for them and assert the steel versions are much superior. I believe I gave them all away. However I'll look tomorrow; if I find any I'll give them to you then you can judge for yourself without being out of pocket. BTW; congrats on the 25-2; an excellent choice! They are one of my favorite N Frames and I have several

I bought a couple dozen for my 625-3, after being told that these were the correct ones for my gun. They are exceedingly difficult to get into the cylinder and get it closed, but after a few shots everything loosens up and they eject fairly easily. Steel clips work far better...........but they're a bear to load and unload, as noted. I'm mostly shooting Auto-Rim ammo these days, it's just so much easier than dealing with clips that don't work like they're supposed to.

Thanks. I sure would like to test them out if you have them.
I was only going to get 5 as I am not going to be shooting this gun much.

I use the "rimzs" in my 625 and they work just fine....although after a number of uses they do tend to wear out. Can't beat them for ease of use compared to the steel moon clips.
