Default I Never Thought It Would Happen To Me, The Ammo & Mags Are Now In A Safe

We are entering the crazy panic buying time again. There is no denying it.
I have plenty of all I need. Heck I’ve got the unborn grandchildren stocked up. But It’s really hitting home the high value of such items as Mags and ammo.

I moved up and bought an American Security BF 7240, which is more of a real safe, than my other two $700ish safes. This gave me room to clean out one of my weaker safes and fill it with ammo and Mags. I always thought it was a silly thing to do before, and I certainly didn’t have the safe space available until now.

I have a pretty good idea of how many rounds of ammo I have, but have never calculated the Dollar amount. It’s a lot. Mags too.

You are darn tootin.
I bought a large Job Box and bolted it into the floor of my shed. (concrete floor). It houses loaded mags and ammo. You're right, a case of some ammo costs more than the gun it feeds.

You might want to think about the location of any safe with large amounts of ammo in it. In case of fire, unconfined ammo is not particularly dangerous except to those without eye protection. However, rapid expansion in the unlikely event that a fire heats ammo in a safe to ignition point would, I believe, turn the safe itself into a serious hazard to health and happiness. I'm not at all an expert on this subject, but with your LE status, it might be fairly easy for you to discuss this with someone who is. I'm all in favor of stockpiling ammo, but not at any significant risk.

Hmm I haven't seen any change in ammo yet. Luckily, I'm well set anyway.

my LGS has stated that business has been REALLY good lately. Prices are going to start moving up soon. I may need to stock up on ammo while the price is decent.
