Default interview news

Last Wednesday I told you guys about the 14 minute total time in the building (including pee stop and waiting room) job interview. they said I should hear something in a couple of weeks, but they called me on Monday.

Orientation is Monday. It's not a full time teaching thing, but at least I won't be such a bottomfeeding freeloader at my house anymore!

Nah. We already have a special workroom in the school building, complete with coffee that tastes like it was brewed through a dirty sweatsock, no windows, and out of order vending machines. We don't want any more special places! LOL

Fantastic, and even though it's not "full time", I'm pretty sure you're gonna be putting in more than 8 a day!

Congratulations! I praise you for your dedication. My wife and I were both teachers back in the late 70’s through the mid 80’s before my dad took ill and we moved back to the farm. I taught metal shop and she taught science and math. I worked at a Dallas inner city high school and she taught at a Catholic grade school. I’ve got stories about my kids that would fill a book, like the young man who brought a handgun to class and asked if I could show him how to make a silencer for it.

To the OP: Any good news is welcome in times like these. Congratulations. May this gig grow to something bigger and more permanent.

To those who are still looking for work: my thoughts and prayers are with you. If you can't get what you want, I hope you will soon connect with what you need.

If you think that's special you should spend a couple of hours in the squad room of most police stations...I'll say no more

Congrats on the new Job. Maybe the part of the application where
they asked for your "interests" and you put, "collecting S&W handguns"
did the trick. All kiddin' aside, good news.

Congrats on the new job, the job market seems to be improving in 2012. I have been getting many calls from recruiters, my lucky day came on Tuesday this week. Recruitercalled with a position which was a good fit for me. I interviewed on Wednesday and the company called the recruiter with a job offer practically before my tires had left their parking lot. I start on Monday with a Fortune 500 firm that is a world class manufacture of medical diagnostic equipment. I had been pursuing an opportunity with this company since having been riffed in '09. Perseverance finally paid off.

The overall job market may be improving, but the education sector isn't at the same rate, especially fine arts. I'm a music teacher, relegated to struggling to find substitute, preschool, and daycare teaching jobs--and a "work for food" program on a local farm. Who knows when, or even if, I will be able to find a secondary music teaching position.

BUT...at least this is something that looks to be much more stable and regular than the piecemeal life I've been living.
