If you win it tonite what will you buy?
The Mega Million $540 MILLION lottery that is!
Me? I'd end world hunger and feed all the hungry children too!
OR.... I might spend half of it on guns and ammo and then waste the rest.
What about you!

I operate on the theory that even that much money cannot buy happiness.
However it can buy the kind of misery you like best.

I heard them say you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than winning that lottery. I'd still rather win. Can't win if you don't play.

$500 million doesn't go as far as it used to... but if there was a magic pill I could buy for my dog Pugsters to keep her young and healthy for as long as I live it would be worth every penny of it.

According to news the lottery is now up to $640 million altogether. I bought one ticket, I am not about to go hog wild and blow the rent money like I see so many doing. I watched one guy drop $50 on tickets for it. Guys like that should have bridges and roads named after them, after all they helped pay for them.

I would buy many thousands of internet capable iPods, ripped blue jeans, skateboards, marijuana and Mt. Dew. Then I would air drop the stuff all over the middle east and North Korea and watch as their youth are degraded like ours were over the last couple decades. 10 years from now they will all be too fat and lazy to care about terrorism, religion or world domination.

Dave, we are building those bridges and roads as we speak. They are generally classified as the "Bridges and Roads to Nowhere."

After taking care of family and loved ones, I'd do some modified karmas and seek out some forum members that could use a financial hand-up, not a hand-out. This would maintain both our dignities. I would like to build a shooting/hunting/camping ranch that could be offered as paid-vacation karmas for family, friends, and members as well as their immediate families. Safety, fun, friendship, and relaxation would be order of the day. It is a nice dream as I see it.

In TN the after-tax cash payout would be $346,500,000, a third of a billion dollars.
First thing I do would be to hire the best financial advisers and get them to "claim" the winnings on behalf of their anonymous client. Then a nice comfortable house, some good vehicles for Mrs. Ironhand and I(Audi A8L for her, an old FJ40 Landcruiser for me and a couple motorcycles), and then we would both become professional students for the rest of our lives.
That and a mid-60s Ferrari 275 or 330 for my father, so he and I could terrorize the roads around here on the weekends.

I too would take the cash option which is around $462M right now. I would def buy educations for my niece, and nephew. Not too sure after that. Def a good lawyer and accountant would be necessary.

If I were to win it would be on the dl, I wouldn't let any of my money grubbing welfare rat family members know. I'd buy a mountain somewhere and retire where I can be like Grizzly Adams.
Seriously though, I would pay off all my bills, buy some land (a lot of land) so that I wouldn't have to deal with neighbors being close by and build a couple of houses on it one for me and one for guests. Spend about a mil in the most frivolous fashion and invest most of what is left. I don't need a lot of fancy things. I'd probably just end up farming for self sustenance and hunt and fish the rest of the year.

$462M...400 into bonds, maybe 2% per year yield, leaves 62M to share/buy/build/educate/etc., 8M a year to live on (minus 15% capital gains tax, of course)......I could manage.....

Actually, I think I would buy Smith & Wesson, and do away with all IL revolvers, MIM parts, and bring back recessed cylinders and pinned barrels.

I'm going to wish I had played tomorrow, but I only had $20 cash. I went to the bottle shop (got a 1.75 liter bottle of Rum and a 2 liter coke). The wife says, "I thought you were going to use that money on Lotto tickets", I told her my odds of getting drunk were WAY BETTER, than the odds of my winning the Lottery.

World peace
Oops - Wrong contest.....
I believe a nice piece of property somewhere nice an quiet - UP might work - Say 2,000 acres. A nice house on one of the lakes and I would have a first class medical center built and staff it with THE BEST DOCTORS IN THE WORLD so's I could live FOREVER........(What's *internet* for maniacal laugh?)

Well,I'd take care of my family for perpetuity through various trusts. For my wife and I,a low-country plantation sitting on every contiguous acre available. Preferably with a 19th century Georgian home on a bluff with a view of the marsh and ocean access.. A very, very long drive lined with moss-draped live oaks and acres and acres of virgin long-leaf pine forest full of native critters. I'd retire there and seldom leave, with everything I need being delivered to the guard at the gate. That 'bout covers it.

My wife said I could have one of those islands like the bad guys always have on the James Bond movies. You know, the ones with the secret submarine base and a helicopter pad. My youngest son is thrilled over the idea, but only if it comes with one of them super laser cannons.

If I win, I would bail out the fine city of Detroit so the state doesn't have to bring in an emergency manager............
Ok, it's close enough to April 1st, I just started early.
What I would do is get a couple new cars for the family. A couple full autos for my collection.
I would take a large portion and create trusts for scholarships at conservative colleges. And I would help out a lot of people who have been straight with me in my life.

I'd buy 100 million lottery tickets....with my good luck, I'd say I have a shot at more money.

I already have a few tickets. Jr. is standing in a long line in Slidell,La. waiting to get some more. The Detroit thing won't work, there won't be enough money. I'm pretty happy right now, but the seclusion thing sounds pretty good, expecially if it's properly staffed. (use your imagination) I would strive to have more S&W's than David Carroll if that's possible. A few boats for different types of fishing and a nice place to keep them. I'd stay away from private planes. Educate my grandkids and re-educate one of my kids. A few cabins on the water, in the mountains, desert, etc. Better quality bourbon. Improvements on the range and a steel reinforced safe/rangehouse. When this thing finally falls I predict there will be at least six winning tickets. I got struck by lightening back in 1973 and lived so maybe I have a chance.
