US: P-38

Many thanks but I have a few. How about sending them to Rem3200? After all a retired old CSM needs a good P-38.:D

The hole is for looping a string through to sterilize (dip in boiling water) after each use. Also a perfect way to carry the P38 on your dog tag chain.

Still have the scar on my leg from when the P-38 came open in my pocket but the P-38 and P-51 were both taken by the the Great Bastrop County Labor Day Conflagration of 2011. On a side note my dog tags are warped and discolored but they survived, the chain did not.

Still have several, used to keep one on my keychain but got tired of my leg being poked all the time, it's in my truck now. One of the guys at work one day was musing that he'd love to have one, I have/had a couple of new ones still in the wrapper so I gifted him one, you'd have thought I gave him a million bucks.

Great tool, never heard of the bigger one until I read it here, always learn something new on this great forum!

I have the one that I got at Ft Polk LA in 1981, it never leaves my key ring

Yep, thats an Aussie one, finally phased out of our military about a year ago.

Still have a heap floating around.

Cheers,

Aussie D

That's a shame. Far more useful than our GI John Waynes. Got mine in an Austrailian Army MRE back in 87 and still have it, albeit retired as a keepsake.
Army Surplus stores sell a cheap knock off of it around here, and so does many camping stores. I carry one in each vehicle.
BTW: When I was there, I found an army surplus store and bought a REAL Akubra Austrailian Forces slouch hat...not the cheapo tourist stuff!

I thought ham & lima beans were pretty good, if you had time to heat them up. (cold they were kinda nasty)

Never cared much for the fruit cake, but it was better then no cake. (same with the cigarettes & coffee)

True happiness was when I scored sliced pork w/juices AND pecan roll. Fruit cocktail was also highly desirable.

51

P-38s are every where, who has a P-51, a little harder to find. :)

bob

Hi Bob,
Emergency Essentials has P-51s. They have a web page at beprepared.com.
I get stuff from them for camping.
It is kinda of interesting to see all the things available .
Thanks
Mike

I bought one at a Army/Navy surplus store at least 20 years ago, and I've never used it.

I even know right where it is located.

I always figured tht 'some day' I would be happy to have it....but that day hasn't arrived, yet.
