Well, it looks like Gov Hickenlooper haws done the deed and restricted Colorado citizens rights. Also heard that MagPul is going to pickup and move someplace else. Guess that is one way a government can create new jobs...****n the employers off to another state!!

Default Jessica's Law

It is amazing to me that he will support the new gun restrictions, but will NOT support passage of Jessica's Law to protect the children of his state. Something is WRONG here.....

When party trumps person, any individual traditions, values, whatever go out the window. Unless, of course they happen to be in current favor with the party elite power structure. Every bit of what happened in Colorado was choreographed by the Democratic National Committee and the White House and faithfully executed by the party bootlicks currently in majority power.

My typical letter to legislators:

I think the gun bills are poorly written, and are Felony Traps.

Let me give you some examples:

Suppose we need to go visit our grandchildren in Seattle. When we leave, there are firearms that need to be locked up in a safe where someone is at home. Under the proposed law, nobody but an FFL could take them, maybe not even the Bank Safety Deposit. ( The few boxes we find within 25 miles are 5 inches wide. ) It seems that you are forcing me to leave my guns subject to a burglary of my empty home.

Suppose I need to go paint the home we have for sale in Seattle. I will be gone two weeks. I can't loan my gun to my own wife without a background check, and what about my collection in the safe? She has the combo because I am 70 and we keep some cash there. Would she need BGC's on, say, 25 guns? And then when I come home, do I need another 26 background checks? **EDIT.. the Democrats apparently took out the 72 hour time to get a BGC on a family loan, I no longer see it in the final law. Sorry. ....... If we even were to have the money for this many background checks, it is likely that the volume would trigger a visit from the BATF and FBI for illegal dealing. ( You know that multiple handgun transactions mandate a report to the BATF, don't you? )

Last Wednesday I asked two prominent gun shops if they would provide private transaction checks. They said NOT A CHANCE.

What happens if a patrol officer discovers my one 16 round magazine that is grandfathered? How did you Senators establish a way to prove my original possession date? Does the officer appropriate my gun while I jump through hoops? What if they don't like my "proof"? Do they take it permanently? ( ps...the law wording makes any mag with a removable bottom plate illegal.)

What happens to my 16 round magazine if I take an airplane trip? The proposed law requires me to maintain possession. Homeland Security will not like it if I take it on an airplane. So if it is left with my wife, have either of us committed a crime?

I watched the live hearings on Friday, and just did not hear the Democrats speak to these kinds of questions. I have written paper and email letters to my direct legislators, and have gotten no response.

There are serious issues about loaning a gun: OK for somebody fishing or hunting, but not for hiking, birding, ATV riding, floating, horseback riding. This is like gun registration but without the LIST!

Law abiding citizens are going to become criminals if you pass this law.

The best solution is to terminate all four Bills, but at least the BGC law should only apply to actual sales to strangers.

Sincerely,

Default Consolation?

Take heart fellow Coloradans, I have been hearing that.the gun bills that were signed today are going to be challenged on the November ballot where we, the voters and citizens will have the opportunity to challenge them. Let's hope it happens.....

Unfortunately it doesn't help with the Magpul situation,,,,

I sincerely hope that the voters in Colorado and New York remember this at the polls, as well as any other state (I don't suppose their is any hope for California) whose elected officials cease to respect and represent the rights of the people.

Sadly, the number of people in this country who work for a living are outnumbered by the people who vote for a living (borrowed that)...and most of those who vote for a living are not on our side.

Question about laws like this ~ Evidently the new Colorado law makes 30 round magazines for the AR illegal. Does this mean that pre-law ownership is now illegal and you can't own or use them or that you just can't purchase them any longer in that state? Would this mean that if you are caught at a range with a 30 round magazine in your possession, you are guilty of breaking the law? I believe in state's rights but this is all just plain nuts.

I spent a couple of years in Denver back in the 60s when I was in the service. I remember it to be a large western city with a pretty much common sense attitude, it seems that has changed. Pity.

In the mid 60s Colorado had a total population of a little over 2 million.Demver/Aurora/Lakewood now has a population of 2.5 million. It's a case of one large metro area ruling over the entire state, much like NYC and Chicago.

I didn't know Denver was so blue. I have an old college girlfriend who lives in Boulder, and she fits in very well. Great gal to pal around with in college, but not so much after. She never recovered!!

Well, it must have, because he was elected in! He certainly had history that should have been checked prior to election. His views didn't appear overnight.

Just remember when it comes time for relections Don't bitch now and then re-elect them back in office and then complain.

Hick did a good job originally selling himself as a self made man and middle of the road.A lot of people were conned, but isn't that how politics works?

How long will it be before they enact a NY-style $500 reward for turning in your neighbors who possess firearms or magazines?

I was stationed with the USAF in Denver in the 1960's and it was already pretty liberal. Keep in mind, too, that Aspen is home to many of the wealthy iiberal elite, including some celebrities.

Since the Sheriffs are on record that they will not enforce the new law I suspect that CO will become the first state to test Sheriff vs Govenor.

Unfortunately for CO, much sooner than the end of the year.

Plus all the gerrymandering that has given the Dems a stranglehold on us. I suspect all the gun owners will get this turned around in time.

I pray this is also the nail in the coffin for Gov. Hickenlooper's political career in this state.

On a positive note, Magpul just emailed me that my magazine order is on the way. They really made it simple for Coloradoans to place orders. What a shame that such a class act has to pull up roots and leave the state. As much as I hate to see them go, I understand their decision and support them 100%.

The way that everything is going here lately, I expect Governor Hickenlooper to try and change the name of the state to "New California" or "Western New York."

As the sanctuary state that he has already pushed through, it's too bad "New Mexico" was already taken, because that's about what it feels like.

I understand Utah is trying to pass legislation to become "Constitutional Carry" and that may be where my wife and I immigrate to if the libs keep pushing. I would hate to end five generations of Coloradans, but the carpet baggers who come in and change the state are screwing it up beyond all means.

I said in the 70's that Colorado should establish a border checkpoint and turn away people. Now look what it has become.

I guess Colorado will be right in line to implement the UN Agenda 21 plan.
