Mouse" On or Off?
When you shut down the computer for the night, do you turn off the mouse? Does ir drain battries badly or otherwise hurt the mouse to be left on?
I've tended to turn it off, but a brother says no need. What say you?

Mine goes into a "standby" mode, no light on until you "wake it up" by moving it or clicking a button. My batteries seem to last about a month and a half, I use rechargeables.

I turn mine off along with the keyboard, I know they like cheese, but man do they like batteries. I also shut down my computer when not in use, I know most leave theirs on.
Mouse batteries are replaced weekly here, I have a Apple Magic Mouse, others may get better mileage on theirs.

I jjust got a wireless keyboard and mouse, if that matters. The keyboard uses light to charge, like many calculators.

I have one that goes into standby mode and also uses rechargeables and it lasts between 1 -1/2 to 2- 1/2 months depending on usage. The one for my laptop has an on/off switch so it get turned off every time it is not in use. Have never replaed the battery in it so don't know how long it will last. It is now over a year old and still going. However I do not use it a lot either.

Personally I put mine back in its cage. Otherwise the squeaking and scrabbling around keeps me (and the cat) awake....................

Unless it has a fragile on/off switch you ain't hurting nothing by turning it off when you're not using it.

I've noticed they often suck batteries like crazy when they get old. just use rechargeables and don't waste your time.

I dumped my wireless....batteries never lasted very long and the wire doesn't bother me on the iMac since it's connected to the keyboard, which is cnnected to the screen...so there aren't any wires coming off the floor from the tower like my old PC.

Mine is a Dell wireless. It doesn't have an 'on' light, although it does have an on/off switch. I leave it on all the time; 2 AA batteries last about 6 months.
