If You're Ever in Llano Texas
The wife and I spent yesterday in Llano, TX. yesterday. A friend of mine from Mason County finally talked me out of 2 revolvers I had.
After the gun business was over, and I had a pocket full of cash, we walked up to the pit at Coopers and picked out what was for lunch.

I'm guessing that's not a buffet. You get as much or as little as you want, and pay by the pound, right? Looks good to me. And if any of you Yankees' mouths are watering right now, here's some a little closer to home. Hill Country - Barbecue, Market - Music to your mouth. I've checked it out personally, and it makes the grade.

I drive by there on the way to my hunting lease and stop whenever I can,or else I kick myself for not stopping for 100 miles!

I'm in and around Llano at least a couple of times a month during spring and summer on my bike. Usually stop in and eat. My only complaint with Coopers it they are very proud of their meat. Especially their beef ribs. Between Coopers and Hard 8 in Stephenville, I prefer Hard 8

Skootertrash,
You are exactly right, that is why I commented that I had a pocket full of cash...However to me, it is well worth it every time I do visit Llano. And you are right on about the Beef Ribs, that is what my wife orders every time.

Mom lives down the road in Fredericksburg...go to Coopers often, love the crock pots of pintos and stacks of Wonder bread on the tables. Now that I'm in Virginia, I can never decide when in Texas to eat BBQ, Mexican food, or Chicken Fried steak. Breakfast, lunch and dinner...problem solved. Peach cobbler as well for my fruit of the day. My favorite Texas BBQ is Black's in Lockhart. Their beef ribs are off the charts, as are their sausage. Love that place.

Every time the frau and I go to San Angelo she wants to go down to Llano and eat at Cooper's. That's about 100 miles one way. Being wise (and hungry) I usually don't argue with her.
