Please post pics of your "after market" finished revolvers
I've got a 629 that I want to have some type of finish such as cerokote or armoloy, etc. applied to. I just want to get an idea of what exactly I might prefer. I'm leaning toward a tu-tone combination. Black/grey,black/green maybe,I just don't know. Pictures are worth a thousand words.

Bobby I don't have.............
any images of it but in my misguided (stupid) youth I let my favorite K22 get away from me. I had sent it off and had it Armoloyed. It was the slickest, most durable finish I have ever seen on a handgun.
I am a big fan of their finish and highly recommend it.
If you ever see that old gray 17 floating around out there give me a heads up.

Short answer: 'cause I want to. Long answer: I bought a shooter grade 629 to haul around in the swamp. I'm not a stainless gun guy to begin with (although I do have a few) and this one has been semi-polished. Don't particularly care for the way it looks,so I'm gonna change it.

I would consider just having the stainless bead blasted. That gives a nice utilitarian finish. In my opinion it would not severely affect the price/resale of the gun in the future, the way an applied finish might.

Bead blasted will look good, but stainless will rust. I've had stainless 1911's show rust, and it's always in the areas that are matte or bead blasted. (front of grip frame, dust cover) "Paint it Black" Rollin Stones would suggest. Do a "Pinto" and leave the cyl. and release stainless

I've posted this before, but it seems to meet the criteria for you. This was done by "Cylinder and Slide", and is very high on my list of favorites. The finish is very durable and does not seem to scratch.

Not beat up at all. Just too shiney. It will be used for hunting as well. Deer and hogs don't do shiney. Something like that C&S Ceracote tu-tone on that bottomfeeder would be great I think. I'd just like to see it on a revolver.

FT - Give Todd a call over at CCR - he has done a few wheel guns along with all the bottom feeders he does and he has lots of photos of different coverings and such.
Cummings Custom Refinishing
Good idea by the way.

Tom
Consider a fast and simple degrease followed by a bit of masking tape
in sensitive areas.
Nice thin coat of flat black or grey primer.
Let it dry thoroughly and use without fear.
When it is time to return the gun to original finish, remove grips and soak
in acetone. No plastic sight insert or it is gone.
Cheap and reversible for a real usin gun.

Cerakoteguncoatings has a pretty good photo gallery.
Very few revolvers, though.

Here's a 29-2 that has been Arctic koted.
Diamondback with Robar's NP3 coating
S&W 681 performance center with the birdsong finish
586 with Ford's satin hard chrome frame and polished hc cyl & 24 kt coated hammer, trigger, thumb release.
29-3 duracoated.

Here's a 29-3 Classic Huner that's hard chromed.
I made it into a foul weather hunting piece.
This revolver got chromed 20+ years ago - still looks new.

Decision reached. I'm going to have it Ceracoated in a combination of graphite black/sniper grey. Frame in grey; bbl, cylinder, cylinder release and front sight in black. Trigger and hammer will remain as is. If I don't like it,there's lots of other combinations available!
f.t.
p.s. Thanks for all of the help!
