Default Tasers??

Good morning,

I'm curious what the members think about the use of tasers for personal defense situations. I live in SE Texas where we just had a woman shot and killed for her baby. Some close friends said they wanted to get a taser b/c they didn't want a loaded gun in their diaper bag.

My opinion is tasers could/would work if there was only one assilant, b/c they only shoot once. My recommendation would be a small carry handgun either on their person, or in their car when outside the home, or pepper spray.

I appreciate your input on this matter,

Thanks,

Tasers are a duel edged sword for a few reasons.

PROS:
IF it works, it works!. you can zap an asailent many times in a row to keep him down.

Small and compact. Much like a pistol you can carry this in a holster, diaper bag, purse, fanny pack.

uhhmmmm ohhh its much less lethal :-)

CONS:

range. a taser severely loses its accuracy after 20 feet, it also loses the velocity dramatically faster than you would think.

It only fires once. meaning if the prongs dont stick.....you better have a backup plan.

it doesnt always work. get it sopping wet and see if it still functions.

against multiple attackers this weapon is useless

its ungodly expensive. a good "air taser" will run you anywhere between $399.99-$800.00. and the cartridges are about $65 a pop. so it is economically obsurd.

i i would not recommend this to your neighbors period unless they want to go to their local LEO training academy and spend a few weeks perfecting the taser. otherwise it will probably taken from them and used on them
