WANTED any 9mm rimfire.
Have heard of a few 9mm cartridges, but never a rimfire.

Specialty Ammo 9mm Rimfire #8 Shot Shotshell Box of 50

It's a European thing, mostly. "Garden guns." Pest control.

Of course they did. Still do in Europe. Friend of mine lives in Cambridge, and shoots the squirrels (damn illegal aliens from America), that raid his birdfeeder, with a 9mm rimfire shotgun. Says it's quiet enough it does not bother the neighbors.

It may be a little hard to find, but the Winchester Model 36 was chambered in 9mm rimfire. Shot loads mostly for controlling garden pests. Fiocchi still makes it and MidwayUsa lists it in their catalog. There were a number of European made guns for it also.

Default 9mm Rimfire Shot - Pigeon Gun

Long long ago an older gentleman/farmer told me about using a 9mm rimfire shotgun to eliminate/reduce/control pigeons in the barns. Small shot would penetrate pigeons, but not the roof.

Still have the one cartridge he gave me.

This add quoted by the OP is what is called a 'sleeper add'.

May seem a little silly to most, but what "IF" someone drags grampa's old Winnie M36 out of the closet to unload on this guy?

A 9mm rimfire may expand but a .45 rimfire will never shrink.

Rimfire and centerfire cartridges are passing fads.

I only shoot matchlock, flintlock, percussion and pinfire anymore.

I'd love to shoot wheellock, but wheellock gunsmiths are a bit hard to find.

Actually, after the Civil War, Remington converted about 4500 New Model Army revolvers to chamber a .46 caliber rimfire cartridge. They were sold only through the Kittredge Company of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Buddy of mine came up with a .38 rimfire from somewhere, and also managed to find some ammo at the gun show. Won't shoot it, but he has it. That's the big difference between us, I won't own a gun I won't or don't shoot. He has LOADS of them, most of them worn too badly to be safe.

I know. But it's a burden we must all bear occasionally.
