I'm hoping into my 90's. My mother's side of the family lived into their late 80's and early 90's. My Dad's side no to long. His mother at 58 and his father at 76. both had lung prolems. My Dad will be 91 this Sunday. He is still going to work 5 days a week. I turned 65 3 weeks ago and am hoping for another 25 years as long as my mind remains with me. Wish me luck.

Expect to live? Maybe two more days. Any more than that is gravy. I figure if I live as if I have 2 more to go, I might behave myself.

Never expected to reach this age (62). Been shot, stabbed, snakebit, bear-chased,and stomped, bit, clawed, prodded, poked by more types of animals than most people can name. All mostly by mis-fortune (well, a couple by mis-adventure).

But, my life has been full. Few regrets (mostly in hurting other people) and I firmly feel I have more good than bad in my tally book.

When I was in the Navy At the ripe old age of 17 back in the early 60`s , I back talked a WW2 veteran Chief. -BIG MISTAKE-

He grabbed me by my shirt and smashed me up against a bulkhead- banging it real hard by the way-and said:

"Boy with a mouth like that you`ll be lucky to see 21!!!!"

I guess he`s rolling in his grave now that I`m 67, but I have outlived most of my ancestors , so I`m essentially on borrowed time from now on.

Until I die.

We all have our war storys of survival and close calls. I wonder how many times we all have been saved by guardian angles and never knew it! Just flying down the freeway in one fast busy hour we could have been wiped out by how many, 4,000 (?) different drivers by the flick of their wrist! Once going to vegas from california I came on the scene where some nutt decided to take a bus full of people out with him by cutting across the median and hitting the bus head on! Killed 40+ people!
I still carry a old news paper clipping of a gambler special airplane that crashed into Mt. whitney years ago. I was suppose to be on it!
I have thought a lot on this. I know I could litteraly count somewhere between 30 to 60 times that I know about that I could have been killed, and only God knows how many other times we never knew about.
In my case the vast majority of my known incidents were caused by my stupidity and I only got out (but maybe hurt} by Gods grace, not by my own token heroics.

I plan to live forever or die trying

I hope to have children and watch my grandchildren grow. I turn 25 tomorrow. I really don't want to outlive my wife.

If I am like my grandparents and great-grandparents I have a good chance of living another 60+ years.

A old friend I had would see me doing something stupid and tell me, "Your shakeing hands with the devil"!

I survived cancer in 2000. I am in my spare time since.

Eternally sounds good to me.
You have to get to know the Big Guy--but He is a good-un and He calls me brother.

Died on the operating table in 2004 during heart operation. Was dead for 6 minutes (heart stopped). Wife was told at best if I did survive the recusitation, I would be a vegetable. Woke up two days later asking for her and my daughter. Doctors and nurses jaws dropped. Everyday is a gift for me now. Changed my whole outlook on life.

As a priest once told me when our fourteen year old daughter was killed in a wreck by a drunk driver, "the old must and the young sometimes do." I see young and old die every day at work and I've come to realize age doesn't matter in the scheme of things. I'm 57 right now and really could care less if another day comes or not - days on this earth are relative when thinking about infinite time. I'm ready to go at any time I'm called but my one hope is that my daughter meets me and says - "Hi dad, its good to see you. Come with me, I want you to meet Someone that's really great. He's the One that made you and He's the boss here!!"

Shot twice, stabbed once, smoked for the past 61 years, have congestive heart failure and still going at 79. Add to that 24 years in the Army and Air Force - served in Korea during the war and also in Vietnam. Live and enjoy each day - none of us will get out of here alive.

Nah, forget that. Lets go for the REAL miracle.......The Cubs win the World Series.

Well, I'm hopeing at least till Sunday. Thats when I'm invited to a B-B-Q at my sisters. My BIL can sloooow cook ribs that "are to die for".

Until I have had all my birthdays.

I am now 87 so I figure each additional year that i live is a gift from God and i am going to enjoy them to the best of my ability.

About 10 years ago the old guy I worked for was 93. He died at 97 and wanted to live to 100. But back when he was 93 he had an emergency. His stair climber next to his bedroom had failed. I'm not an expert stair lift technician, I worked with computers. It didn't matter to him, he was stranded (because he didn't want to walk to the other end of the upstairs and take the other one down.) So I drove to his home and the maid let me in. He was bellowing from up the stairs. So when I got to the stairs he was at the top. In his undershorts. If there is one thing no one should be forced to view, its a 93 year old man in his undershorts!

At that moment I realized I didn't want to live that long. And I surely didn't want to subject anyone else to the view.

Just my opinion of course. But its well reasoned.

About 6 years we went back to wisconsin to see relatives. My uncle frank about 90 at the time was telling he was going to wait for the price to come down on those new flat screen tv`s. My aunt says frank, just how long do you think your going to live?

Even older, even crankier....

I didn't think I'd make 20, then it was 30. Thought I bought it when I had a motorcycle accident at 45. Turn 65 in October and the wife says I'm to mean to die. Okay so I get a little cranky sometimes. Jeez. Viet Nam couldn't kill me, It tried hard a couple times and so many near misses it makes my head spin. So like everyone else here I guess I'll just have to wait my turn. The only downside is I'll miss my kids and grand kids. I say that with tongue in cheek. How would I know. So far I've had a very full life, my 15 minuets of fame a couple times over and I don't believe in regrets. Maybe I'll get lucky and won't know when it happens.

I will turn 55 in July, my mother and father are in their 80's,my grandparents made it to their 90's, only time will tell. When I do go I hope I go like my Grandfather, peacefully in his sleep, not like the other four people in the car kicking and screaming.

I'm satisfied if I just make through today.

Some of these responces remind me of a story my old friend that was raised in louisianna told me. He said when he was a kid a old religious black man lived down the road from them. He prayed a lot. Once bill was walking by one night and he heard Jake praying. Lawd, dis world is so evil, jus come and take me home lawd! Bill called out, Jake I come ta git you. There was a silence and jake hollered back, Lawd, Jake dont live here no mo, he lives way down the road!

Why????? Once dementia sets in you're golden You're now someone elses problem.

I'm probably in my last 10 years based on my male ancestor's death ages. Right now I feel great, and unless the black SUVs come driving down my driveway, I expect to see, or pass, the 10 year mark. I really would like to live long enough to see a change in our country's leadership, don't really care how that change happens.

I don't "expect" to live to any age, I just deal with life as it comes. I figure every day I wake up in good working order is an opportunity to enjoy what I have, for as long as I have it.

I lived longer than I figure was possible for someone who didn't take care of himself in my younger years. My wife has told me for the last 45 years that I am too nasty to die as I want to make everyone suffer.

When the doctor, if can believe anything those quacks say, I'll make 100 as he said I had another 30 years or so when he spliced my aorta and femoral arteries to route blood where it was needed.

What a bunch of gloomy gus's. I'm going to live forever!
